Mine has to be "Dillinger" with Warren Oates, my other favorites are "Little Caesar", and "Last Man Standing". As well as the original Star Trek episode "A Piece of the Action":)

What are yours???????

One word, three syllables... Goodfellas.

God I love that movie. Top to bottom, beginning to end. It's perfection in my opinion.

The pistol whip scene is fantasic. God that would hurt. It's some smallish revolver -can anyone ID?

Godfather and Scarface need to be considered on any list.

Casino was great. Also Godfather,Untouchables,Scarface,Goodfellas, and don`t forget that Some Like It Hot was tied to the Saint Valentines Day Massacre.Ah,the good old days when actors actually acted and the scenes weren`t computer generated or enhanced.

Last Man Standing - my 1911s should be so devastating.

Casino funny I was thinking of that movie last week and I was going to try and find it. I have not seen it in a long time. The scene in the cornfileds was just brutal !

When my wife saw "Last Man Standing" She asked what kind of guns are those! in amazement. I said I have several of them and they're not quite that powerful or devistating, they exercised a little artistic license.:D

Don't know if "Heat" qualifies but its close. Besides its the greatest movie shootout ever.

The original scarface with Paul Muni, White Heat with Cagney, and Key Largo with Bogie, Bacall and Edward G Robinson - wonderful!

Miller's Crossing (1990) was great drama and had some interesting and authentic gun scenes. Stars were Gabriel Byrne, Albert Finney, Marcia Gay Harden, Jon Polito and John Turturro.

I'll second "Heat." If it's not a gangster movie, then I also vote for the original "Dillinger."

FYI - "Last Man Standing" is a remake of the 1964 Italian film "A Fistful of Dollars" starring Clint Eastwood. However, that movie was itself a remake of the 1961 Japanese film "Yojimbo," starring Toshiro Mifune. All three are good movies, but I'm partial to the original 1961 version because it gives you a glimpse into the Japanese culture.

I have a very difficult time choosing a favorite anything, but I'll throw this incredible gangster movie in the mix for your consideration...Leon: the professional.

These are ones I like best and they're all relatively new...The Untouchables, Last Man Standing, Road to Perdition, Harlem Nights and Public Enemies.

Mentioned before though not period correct...Heat, Goodfellas and Pulp Fiction. But no mention of Reservoir Dogs...the ear and gasoline is almost as bad as Casino's corn field beating. Ouch!

Whatever happened to Johnny Dangerously with Michael Keaton and Joe Piscopo? I saw it in the theater, I remember it being funny though I was about 12 at time and everything was funny then.

Underrated Cohen brother Gem. Anyone who hasnt should check this one out. The scene were they come for the old man is bad ass.

My short list:

Miller's Crossing
Road to Perdition
Public Enemies
Dillinger

These are "period" gangster flicks....I never cared for movies outside the setting of the 20-30's era (i.e., "modern" gangsters)...

Sorry for the necromancy of this thread, but I have to second Key Largo as my favorite. The Untouchables is a close second.
