Hello,
I picked up a pm40 used and now having trouble with FTF. First thing i did was disassembled the entire pistol for a good cleaning. Still have same problem can't get through a magazine with out a FTF. Called Kahr they said to replaced recoil spring and try a new magazine. Still same problem. I also took it to a local gunsmith for a ramp polish. Still no change. I have tried all different manufactures of ammo, I have never had this much trouble with a pistol. Any ideas on how to fix problem.

Thanks

probably why the prefious owner traded it in. check ur magazine to see if the spring is in OK and correctly. Checkthe follower to see that it is not busted. Next thing would be to let a utter shooter try the gun, if he can duplicate, then u have eliminated the shooter error possability. U gotta start somewhere. the pm40 imo IS A TRUE hand cannon and propper grip is a must.check tosee if the recoil spring is on correctly. the outter one, the open end towards the front ofthe slide.

One mor ething to checkout. tale the slide off the gun, reinstaqll the slide lock lever, now insert a loded magazine and see if by chance those rounds could be hitting the insdie of that slide stop lever. If so it will throw that round off.

oops one more thing to check out. go to the kahr tech secion and hit on propper prepping of ur kahr and read down until you geto the magazine releaswe buttomn hitting the magazine follower at aboutr round 2/3. very easy to check out. U could have an out of spec mag rlease button asnd if so that thread tells u how easy it is to fix that also. If it s grabbing that follower, it will cause feed issues. no reasn to send it back as u can fix it yourslef in no time at all.

In addition to the wise words from Kahr and Jocko, please allow me to suggest that your ammo may play a role.

From experience with mine, I can tell you that some ammo just won't feed reliably in a PM40. I have had good luck with lighter (135 grain) loads from Winchester, Carbon, and others.

You don't mention the issue occurring repeatedly with a specific number of rounds still in the magazine. If the second round out of the magazine fails consistently, look for interference between the magazine catch and the follower.

Finally, make sure you are gripping with a death grip, especially when shooting hotter ammo. At least in the case of my two PM40's, it is easy to be a little too relaxed and experience a FTF as a result.

Give Kahr service a call. It sounds like a feed ramp problem. If it is they are very likely to repair the gun at no charge if it's a manufacturing defect even though you aren't the original owner. Explain what you have already done to correct the problem. Kahr likes happy customers. Talk to Jay.

+1...Call Kahr and explain the issue....Don't ask don't tell about it being used....let them correct the problem which as someone else said is probably why it was traded in by the original owner....Good luck

Hello Guys,

Three different shooters have had the same problem random FTF. Just got off the phone with kahr they want me to send it in and they will check and advise. Which is fine but i really don't want to due to the cost and no guarantee. I've tried 155gr blazer, Winchester, fiocchi and even a few 135gr handloads. I think i'm going to try the mag mod.

Thanks

Along with modifying the followers to improve the feeding angle, perform the check in the new members section (part of the prep thread) which checks to see if the follower is getting hung up as it rises through the magazine.

I have a CM40 and, while I've had zero issues with it, I did all the stuff in the prep thread before I ever put a round through it... and took a little off the side of the followers, as they were hanging up slightly when they passed the opening for the mag catch.
