I was at my favorite GS yesterday to see if there was anything interesting that I might like. I came a pond a slightly used CW9 that had a broken front sight on it for $269. It appears that someone either dropped the pistol on the sight or was trying to remove it and broke it. I tend to believe someone was trying to remove it because there are no nicks or scratches on the pistol. I passed on it because I do not know what a used CW9 goes for and if by putting a new front sight on it, just not sure if it's worth the time and effort to see if I can flip it at a later date. What say you? Worth it, or not worth the time and effort for the return I'd get for it. I personally do not need another 9mm for myself. Thanks Popeye

I would have picked it up also. Sounds like a great car gun for a very low price.

Two observations spring to mind;
* Don't get so excited in public, and... :o
* You must be a young man.

Yes in order to change the front sight u have to break off the original plastic one and putting on a better one looks pretty easy check it out on YouTube. U should def grab it! GL

Maybe tomorrow I'll jump on the Harley take a ride over and take closer look at it, if it's still there. Just can't help but think if he tried to smith the sights himself and screwed that up, what else he tried to smith on the pistol.
If it's still there I'll ask them if I can field strip it. If they say no then I'll pass.

Was that new or used?
I'd consider buying it if I could use it myself. I wouldn't buy it to fix and flip.

Fyi. You can get one new, in stock, here in NE Ohio for 389 + tax. So your gun would be a decent buy for someone wanting one for themselves and who doesn't mind fiddling with it a bit to save a little $$. There wouldn't be any meat left on the bone for anyone wanting to flip it around here. Your area may vary.

Thanks ltxi and b4uqzme I'm beginning to think the way you guys are just not enough left on the bone to make it worth while. As I really did not know what a new CW9 costs.

Like new had 1 box of 50 rds thru it.
The seller had some disabilities and his hand grasp wasn't good for that gun...
Private sale from Delaware. They were going for $375 at the time elsewhere.
For $300 it was a very good deal your at $269 needing a front sight... Grab it and het a green or red Williams fire sight on it for $35! Call see what they have for CW also call Kahr they may replace it for little or no $$$$!

The boys at Williams are Michiganers that are very nice and very accommodating!

I have tried many times to consul ripley about his behavior in PM's. I think I have failed this forum, for he takes no heed to anything that I say to him to make him a better person. Just sayin :Amflag2:

Thanks downtownv.
After sleeping on it for a couple nights and the replies here and doing some homework on it. I'm going to pass on it. There just isn't enough in it for me at the end after taxes and paper work. Especially when you here of new ones going for $375 to $400. As I mentioned I was going to buy it to flip it as I personally have no need for it. The fact that it has been either Smithed or dropped by the previous owner leaves to many unanswered questions, and if it is screwed up I won't pass a screwed up gun onto someone else, and bring bad JuJu on myself by making it someone else's problem.

On the other hand ... there might be worth in buying it and fixing the sight and holding on to it for a little while. I have my eye on an online listing for a Kahr that looks like it might go fairly cheap. If it ends up that way I might jump in and buy it just to hold onto for a while. Not to flip it, but rather to offer it to someone who may be contemplating gun ownership for the first time. Perhaps a nice used Kahr at a reasonable price might be just the enticement they need. I know a couple of people who could fall into that category, not to mention my own son and daughter who don't own any guns yet.

Sounds good Ray and the CW9 did seem like a pretty nice pistol, But I already have a few other pistols I could do that with without investing in another. That and I think I'd rather see a new gun owner who is unfamiliar with the handling of firearms with a gun that has a few more safety features on it as a first pistol. Trust me though, if I needed or wanted another 9mm pistol I would have been all over that CW9 for $269, and through a set of night sights on it before it ever left the store.
My next pistol will more than likely be a Ruger 1911 45acp. Enough with the 9mm's, for now at least.;)

FYI - The "new" Gander Mountain near my house is now a "Gun World". They had a used CW9 for $400. So that $260 doesn't look too bad, does it?
BTW - All of the used guns with the exception of a whole bunch of 9x18 commie stuff were priced more than the msrp of new guns!

I can't go by Gander prices. Round here they are $200 higher for a cm or cw9. In fairness though, those commie guns look intriguing for $169. Ours has some cheap commie long guns too...7mm x something or another...
Sorry... I got way off track there.
