View Full Version : Can't get slide off PM9

Hey all,

Yes, I read the sticky about getting the slide off, but I don't believe the problem discussed there is the problem I'm having with my new PM9.

Yesterday, I fired the first 200 rounds through it, and had no issues at all!:) Every shot went BANG with every pull of the trigger. The mistake I made, I think, was telling my wife that the gun performed flawlessly, because today, while in the process of field stripping to clean her (my gun!), after popping out the side stop and pulling the trigger, the slide decided it wasn't going anywhere!

I have field stripped my girls (CW9, P380, and with the new PM9, cleaning/prepping before the first shoot) many times, so I know I didn't do anything wrong (famous last words)! When I put her to bed last night, she was racking and dry firing normally. Nothing to indicate there was anything wrong with her.

The slide simply won't move forward or rearward more than like 1/16 in. It is not cocked. At rest, the slide is forward on the frame that 1/16 in, and when pulling the trigger or manually trying to rack the slide, it moves back only that 1/16 in, to the normal position where the back of the slide and frame align.

I took the side cover off, and can see that when I pull the trigger, the cams rotate, which is why I don't believe this problem matches what the sticky talks about, assuming I understand it correctly. Also, the slide stop spring is positioned correctly and is not broken.

So, before I deal with Kahr's customer service, I thought that some of you gents/gentettes might know what's going on, so I can fix my baby's owee and not have to take her to the doctor for shots!

Thanks,

Sweaty

ADD'L INFO: I just saw what was causing the slide to go back only the 1/16 in. The recoil spring guide was recessed, and was hitting the inside of the slide. When I moved it slightly, the recoil spring guide then allowed the slide to go back about 1/4 in. before stopping.

Try pulling and holding the trigger back, then move the slide as far forward as you can.
Release the trigger while gently pulling the slide forward.

Have you tried putting the slide release back in?

Rubb,

You da MAN!!!!!!!!

Because I didn't see that the recoil guide was blocking the slide, I couldn't get the slide back far enough to be able to put the slide stop back in. I discovered that the recoil guide was blocking the slide just AFTER I started this thread. When I read your last post, duh, the light bulb came on--the slide WAS able to go back far enough when I unblocked the slide, and voila!

Thanks again,

Sweaty

Every once in awhile I have a problem getting off, but I've found that it helps to trip my trigger. :)
