View Full Version : I really didn't mean to buy a used MK9 Elite 98...

...BUT IT HAD THOSE DARNED BEAUTIFUL WOODEN GRIPS!

The picture of it just sat there mocking me, and the seller kept reducing the price until I couldn't take it any more. I finally broke down and in an email said

With any luck it should be here by the end of the week. :D

And no pictures to keep us content while we suffer your wait with you?

I suffer for others waiting nearly as much as I do my own. Waiting is tough.

Sweet Mary and Joseph, would you look at the wood grain on those grips.

That's love at first sight right there.

That's love at first sight right there.Exactly. I just couldn't pass it up. That and the fact the seller kindly sold it to me for a little over $500 (did I mention it has dim night sights that will need relamping?) were the straws that broke the camel's back.

Well that's ok then ... if you didn't really mean to do it then you can't really be held liable, can you?

I like the way you think. :D

I've not owned a pistol with wood grips before, but I very much like a friend's who had them on his 1911. At this rate I may need to get some grips for my K40 and SIG P230, and obviously I'll need to bone up on my wood grip care.

What will intrigue me is the perceived difference between the Elite's trigger pull versus my PM9's.

$500 for an MK9? I'm just never in the right place at the right time :(

Unless you count the NIB Sig P238 I just snagged for that price.

Today I saw a regular MK40 with plastic grips at my LGS for $800. I think you did good MrToad... yes you did. :)

Not. Something didn't work right on the Guns America website and someone else bought it. I found one on GB for $50 more.

Sorry, I shoulda started a new thread like Rev Ray.

The previous owner had put a few hundred rounds through without any FTFs, so I'm thinking the occasional reported feed problems of yore for the Elite 98s is not an issue here.

Here's another MK9 that may go for a good price. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=356328399

I had been watching that one pretty closely ... it went for $571.

I want grain like that on my CZ grips.

Here are a couple more close-up pics for those interested.

The grip colors match...just the angle of light makes the right grip a bit brighter. I do need to do a bit more Flitz polishing of the steel, though.

About 6 months ago I purchased an MK 40 with extra barrel, wood and plastic grips, all the paperwork, box, all new springs put in it, the stupid little lock and lock thingy's for 500 shipped to me. Pistol was in pristine condition. I felt I did very well on it, and I think you did well to. I got all the old parts with it so I knew the claim was valid that it was rebuilt. He also included new night sights for it still in the package. My second favorite gun to carry after my 40 Shield, if it was just a few oz. lighter I would carry it more.
