I noticed Wal Mart was unpacking some 9mm ammo this morning and was a brand I wasn't familiar with. Seemed the name started with Tu___, but didn't pay much more attention after the clerk said they were steel cased shells.
Didn't I read in one of the Posts that either steel cased 9mm ammo was hard on the gun or it just didn't work well in the PM/CM9 Kahrs? Hope i didn't pass up a good deal since they were under $11/box (with 50 rds/box). For range ammo maybe they are allright.

Wonder why I just got a note when I clicked on Submit that my message was too short and please add at least 3 characters.

Probably Tula? Some use it. I don't and unless the world was coming to an end or there was absolutely nothing else available I wouldn't.

It works and if you had some russian pistol to shoot it in, it might not be too bad.

My opinion is you didn't pass up anything good.

I wouldn't shoot it out of a pistol that is not considered to be a duty pistol.
I don't think I hesitate shooting it out of one of my CZ's but a small Kahr I sure wouldn't. JMHO.....

My K9 would not shoot Tul ammo well at all. I dn't consider it harmful to the gun in any way, just that it doesn't funcion likeAmerican brandammo. I would bet they would do fine in a glockand somehave reported no issues in kahrs, so if th ammo is ALOT lower in price than what u can find and u don't mind some TAP,RACK DRILLS, THEN GO FOR IT.

i WILL NOT BUY IT AGAIN PERIOD. Just sayin

Thanks guys, I knew I could get the straight scoop from the experts on here, just as I have concerning all my questions in the last couple of years since I purchased my first Kahr, the CM instead of spending the extra money for the PM.
I'm not hurting so think I will just pass on the Tul ammo.

I shoot Tula Ammo out of my SKS and Mosin Naggant but that's about it. Those rifles were designed to shoot that ammo though. Tula Ammo IMO is a dirtier that other ammo. So that is one of the reasons I wouldn't shoot it through a Kahr.

I've used it in my CM9 when I was unable to find anything else. Worked perfectly, and wasn't especially dirty. I've seen extensive tests on youtube, focused on .223 & 5.56 extractor wear. Tula and other steel case Russian ammo were used. That extractor wear did not become a problem until about 6000 rounds of steel case ammo were fired.

If your looking for some decent 9mm Georgia-Arms.com (http://georgia-arms.com/9mmluger-2.aspx) has 500 rounds of 115gr fmj in a ammo can for $130. Shipping is about $20.

From the Q&A's on Kahr's website.

Q. Which ammunition is recommended for use with Kahr firearms?

A. Kahr Arms does not endorse any particular brand of ammunition. However, not every brand of ammunition produces the same results. Please check the markings on the barrel hood of your firearm to determine the proper caliber. Kahr suggests a visit to a pistol range to test fire different brands of ammunition in the proper caliber. Kahr do not recommend steel case, reloads or un-jacketed ammunition. The Kahr pistol is rated to +P.

OP

Based on the above, I have always shot brass thru my Kahrs. They are my carry pistols and the extra $$ is worth it to me even for practice rounds. I've shot Tulammo 9mm thru my CZ with no issues. Tula 223 also runs fine thru my Ruger Mini14 except its a little harder to load the mags.

You made a good call.

Kahr may say not to shoot steel case out of their guns but they can handle it. I have PM9 and it eats Wolf as easily as it does Lawman. Shoot what you can get your hands on.

Pretty much everyone says don't shoot reloads. That way when you blow up your firearm because of a double load or a squib it cant be the manufacture's fault.

I'm wondering if they put in the FAQ about un-jacked rounds because allot of their firearms have polygonal rifling.

I get that there may be premature extractor wear but depending on your shooting habits this may not be an issue for you.

I've been using it for years in most of my firearms but I only shoot about 100-250 rounds a month.

My CW9 has 100 rounds of Tula 115gr through it flawlessly.

Given the absence of ANY type of 9mm or other ammo at two local Walmart stores around here, I'm sure many shooters would love to have the opportunity to turn down the Tula ammo.
I myself do not shoot and type of steel cased ammo in any of my firearms.

If you bought a Ferrari would you run it on the cheapest type regular gas you could buy? Nuff said.
