Picked up a used K9 and am extremely happy with it! Took it to the range yesterday and ran the heck out of it without one misfire. I did periodically have the slide not lock on the last shot that I am looking into (thoughts?). My guess is a hanging follower that I noticed while reloading (seemed to slightly snag). This will be my EDC for sure!

Just curious, did you buy privately or store? I've been looking but no money reserved yet for when I find it.

I bought it in a store for $500. The K9 was uncleaned and included one magazine. The store owner said he just took it in and hadn't had a chance to prep it for sale. That afternoon, I completely disassembled, cleaned and oiled it. The K9 was in outstanding shape! As a note, another gun shop had the same K9 for sale at $699.

Congratulations on your new gun. I want a K9. Just a guess but 90% of the time I see a failure to lock back on the last round it is caused by the shooters thumb hitting the slide lock lever on recoil just enough to prevent it from catching the slide. I hold all my semi autos with both thumbs riding very high and many times have the same issue you are experiencing. Two ways to fix that. Alter your grip slightly, I hate that one, or just deal with it. Which is what I do.

Man1nboat,
I just don't see how you'll ever get used to your thumbs not being in the way as suggested but please know if you can't make it work for you I would volunteer to take it off your hands. Just let me know. <grin>

Many here have rounded off the slide stop lever from just a minor melt to a really rounding the thing off.

This might help if you do in fact find out it's a thumb issue. I don't think it takes much to eliminate the issue with a little file work.

You didn't mention what ammo you were using. It could be that a weak round caused the failure to lock back. It could also be attributed to limp wristing. I hate to admit this, because I can see Jocko licking his chops, but toward the end of a long range session I've experienced the same occurrence due to fatigue.

True. May be a bit high for a used one though. Depends on the condition. Remember, LE trades were going for around $350 not long ago.

The K9 is a great gun. I love mine. Glad to hear you got a good deal.

Turned our that my thumb was the culprit. I went back to the range the next day and ran the heck out of it with no issues. My out-the-door price was a tad less than $500 not that I look at the receipt ($475 after tax and $10 background check). It is in really good shape for a used gun (very minimal wear)... My new EDC
