As I posted above, I installed the Kahr (Tirjicon) night sights on the CM40.
Took it to the range.
The front sight was installed as per instructions:
Red Locktite in the threaded (rear) hole. Hand tightened. Allowed to cure 24 hours.

So, the thing I notice is that there is a slight wobble in the FRONT of the front sight - the rear of the sight is held by the screw, and is quite solid. The screw is in there real good, not loose at all.

But in the front area, where the second "tube" is located, there is a small amount of lateral movement. This does not seem right, yet the front tube is not fastened in any way.

The sight did not come flying out, and did not get any "looser". This appears simply to be the "play" in the hole between the stud and the hole.

Any ideas how to make this more solid? This may simply be a design issue that can not be cured.

I am tempted to try to stake it using a punch, but probably will do more damage than good.

Loctite 609 might do the job (it's designd for close Fitting / press fit applications).
Just a thought here (not saying it's the cause of your issue): a thing I've noticed with these front sights is that the sight posts flare a slight amount where the posts meet the bottom of the sight. If either sight hole in the slide is not countersunk a sufficient amount the sight might not seat correctly: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showpost.php?p=90890&postcount=63

The sight fits absolutely flush. In fact, no light can be seen between the sight and the slide using a very bright flashlight. So it appears, (and the diagram seems to verify) the front post is not a press fit - it just kind of sits in the hole. So there is really nothing to prevent it from moving around a bit, since it is just not tight in the hole.

I was thinking of dropping in some epoxy or something, but I don't know if that would even work, and it could drop out and tie up the gun.

There is a YouTube video of a guy doing an install. He puts red loctite into the holes in the slide and on top of the slide under the sight. I can't see how that would work since locktite requires the absence of air to set up, and there is indeed airspace in the holes.

It looks more like the fit is just not that precise. Not sure there is much to be done about it. The front post is hollow, so in theory with the right tool I could spread it a bit to sit in the hole more solid. But that might just break it and ruin the sight. As long as the screw is solid I don't think it can come off.

How would you get 609 in there once the sight is installed? Not sure the screw would come out, it is a really small Phillips that would strip the head in a second. Probably need to be drilled out, ruining the sight entirely. Will 609 set up in the hole if it is just dropped in?

Yes it will: just weep it in around the front sight post (basically just turn the slide upside down and pour some in the front post hole) and let it set up.

Do I need to put some tape or something over it to keep it out of the air?
I think I will try this. Can't hurt.
Now have to find out where to buy it. Might have to order it online.

No, it will set up on it's own. Loctite even says it will "seal" a joint: http://www.useloctite.com/bearingretaining.html?gclid=CMvBrI7d5LgCFZB_QgodHy 8ASg

If your competent in its use, I think that a staking tool might just do the job. Just go slow and don't get carried away with it.

By Jove, the loctite 609 "may" have worked.
Put in a couple of drops an hour and a half ago. It actually wicked right down the to the area where the site and slide meet (the area between the posts).
You can see it around the edges of the sight.
After an hour or so, no wobble. But it takes 24 hours to cure, then we will see how it does shooting. This may have worked.

The proof will be in the shooting. The wobble was side to side, the stress in recoil is more front to back and up and down, so hopefully it is cured.
