I've gotten hooked on old B&W Sterling Hayden movies. So far I've seen Crime Wave, The Killing and The Asphalt Jungle. He was also in Dr. Strangelove. Hayden was an enlisted Marine who was comissioned and served in the CBI theater in WWII. I really enjoy the film noir pictures from the late 40's and early 50's. I'm James Ellroy's age and I can see where he got some of his dialogue and phrases.

I could watch Dr. Strangelove every day and never get tired of it....Hayden was perfect for the part of General Jack D. Ripper....Thats Plan R for Robert, Now Mandrake make me a drink of grain alcohol and rain water.....

Group Captain do you know when the process of fluoridation first began?...1946 Mandrake, how does that coincide with your post war commie conspiracy?... It's incredibly obvious isn't it, a foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the indivdual, certainly without any choice. Thats the way a your hard core commie works!!!

Love that guy!!!....:Amflag2:

You may remember him as police Captain McClusky in the Godfather. He is the one who slugged Michael in front of the hospital.

Watched 2 of his movies on the western channel not too long ago. One was called Top Gun and the other was kansas Pacific. Maybe not "classics" but were ok and nice to see someone/something a little different than the usuals.

Ahhh....crap. Just something else to endlessly entertain myself with in retirement. I'd forgotten how much I liked Sterling Hayden's acting.
