Installed new K9 Springs (spring kit), Grip (soft polymer) and Stainless Steel Recoil Rod today. The recoil spring was definitely due changing and the slide is much firmer. The recoil rod looks great and was a chore installing with the new recoil spring. The slide stop spring and slide stop spring pin installation took a while too. The others were easy. I receive my smooth wood grips Friday so I am styling! The black grips look great as well.

I really like those rubber grips but I'm a sucker for wood and that's what's on my k40 and mk9. Look forward to pics. Get talking. Only 20 posts to go.

You have to have 30 post, unless you have a photobucket account then you can post a link to the pics.

OK... FYI - I just returned from the range after installing the springs, rod, etc... and once again the K9 ran great. Noticed a smother recoil and tighter operation (in a good way). Now, aside from installing the wood grips tomorrow, I get to just enjoy the Kahr (which is tough for me because I am a tinkerer and like to mess with things :-)

Let me know how you like the smooth wood grips. I have been thinking about getting a pair also.

I was going to get the checkered ones but (1) I CC and didn't know if they would rub my side and (2) they was of course out of stock... Supposedly the smooth ones are better looking too

Yup. That new recoil spring really helps don't it? They wear out so gradually that it's easy to miss when it's time to change it. Then you really notice the difference once you've installed a new one.

I got the checkered grips and like them but gotta admit that you can see the grain better with the smooth ones.

The new recoil spring was alot longer than the old one. Do the checker one's rub on your side (assuming it's CCW)?

Happy with the smooth wood grips. Daughter shot the K9 for the first time yesterday. She thought it was, of course a little "jumpy", the recoil, compared to a revolver, but she liked shooting it. She bought her first gun, Ruger LCR 357, this week. Wife has one too.

If you get checkered and find the too sharp or they want to grab clothing, just take some sandpaper and lightly sand the checkered area. Just knock off the points a little bit.

Some woods show the grain thru checkering pretty well, some woods lose all their character when they are checkered.

I often times just don't bring the checkering to a full point but leave them just a tiny bit flat. Takes all the bite out but still give a good grip.
