I don't see much about the P45 model on the KT. Maybe it is but as I look at he posts/threads I have not heard much about this gun.

Many of you out in KT world have, use, shoot this model? What do you think of it?

If you have one and have tricked it out, post a Pic if you can.

Probably not as plentiful due to it's larger size but everything that applies to any other Kahr applies to that one as well.

Just a larger version of the more popular compact, pocket size versions.

I can't recall right now who has one of those but I know there are several here in the family.

Looks like somebody did a little slide polishing on that one. Very nice.

I know that Robar has made one up as a custom "Commander" size gun. Kahr lists it on the Magazine/Media page of their Website.....Anyone out there had work done on ore? Maybe work on it's little brother?

The P45/CW45 guns are (IMO) more "Officer's" size than "Commander" size:)

One of our forum members, Ljutic, has a P45 customized by Robar:

If you think the P45 has little attention... look for discussions on the TP45. It's not a very popular pistol it seems. A few years ago I bought a P45 to test out as a potential CCW to go with my trusty Seecamp. It didn't pan out for a variety of reasons.

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i186/ripley16/Pistols/P45andseecamp.jpg (http://s72.photobucket.com/user/ripley16/media/Pistols/P45andseecamp.jpg.html)

I then bought a TP45 with the intent of chopping the grip down to a P or PM size. The longer 4" barrel had a lot of appeal. I never got along well with the gun though. I'm thinking that the polymer 45s are just too light for me and the recoil. I especially had trouble with +P rounds. Again; looked great on paper, but just didn't work for me.

My TP45, (top) and some friends.

That's a nice collection!
It's too bad MMC folded I think that little adjustable sight they made looks good on Kahrs. I had one of their early (and even smaller) adjustable sights on a Colt Commander and liked that one as well. It actually worked with the Commander's stock front sight.

I have been carrying the P45 for about a year and a half now, and I love it. I think it is not discussed as much is because of the cost. In CA I can't buy the CW45, so I went the more expensive P45 route. I carry every daly and the holster is a High Noon holster custom molded, and the mag pouch is from DGL Gunleather. The mag pouch is the best thing out there. It is reverse cant and allows me to sit without pinching, and is the perfect angle for drawing, much better than vertical. I also carry a Kimber mag modified to fit, and works flawlessly, and it is flush with the butt of the gun making it more concealable. I use Frog Lube so I don't have to keep re greasing it, Frog Lube doesn't evaporate. Hogue Jr. grip upside down makes it real comfortable, adds a bit I'd width, but not much. I carry PDX1 rounds and plink with Blazers, either brass or aluminum.

I do wish there were more venders making accessories specifically for the gun, flush mags and grips. It is a bit finicky about ammunition, but what I use works well.

If you have any questions, shoot. (No pun intended)

being the cw45 and theP45 are so so close to being the sameI wonder if the P45 was allowed in on an earlier rul;es regulation and now that komifornia has tightened up some of their requiremtns the cw45 doesn't muster up top them. Sounds like sumpin komifornia woulds do. after all you have einstein and pegosie there and they like to paqss laws and then read about them later.

U have a darn nice kahr though,evenifit is a 45. Just sayin

Nice rig. I may wind up with a P45... DLC with NS... someday. I opted for the more compact PM45 DLC with NS... never having seen either. I now have two P's the P9 and P40. I've put real flush-fitting mag bases on them which helps CCW. The flush-fitting base is the way to go, and makes the just-right-sized "P" models much easier to CCW... I had to add an O-ring to my P40 and then my P9, though, to stop pinching. The P40 bit me.:D

I prefer my bike tube grip covers, too... just right for me... not too hand filling.

Looks to be the match grade barrel is the major difference between the cheaper CW45 and the more expensive P45.

For self defense ranges that's no biggee. To me all of the OTHER stuff was important. I would still buy the Black night-sighted PM9... PM45, P380, P40, and P9.

from a selling dealer standpoint they are gonna stock the cw45 over the P45. The price points are alot different. If u want some of the nice bells and whistles the P45offers, go for it, u wont regret it and ur not gonna keep it a week and peddle it. a one time expense, so get what you want and can afford. A dlc finished P45 would look awesome, even though it is a 45. I think a P9 dlc would look awesomer. Just sayin:amflag:

I really like the P-sized Kahrs. The flush-fitting magazine base really helps. The P9 and P40 are great and someday I might add the P45. I likie being able to use the 1911 officer-sized mags for a flush fit. The polymer frames save 8 ounces, which is really noticeable, especially in shorts.

I bought a used P45, black w/night sights and it's been a royal pain. I don't carry it because I don't trust it... leaving that duty to a CW9 or CM9. It's a beautiful pistol, and the specs are there... it should be a CCW dream, but, alas, mine turned into a pumpkin at midnight.

L to R: P45 in Don Hume, CW9 in High Noon.

I also bought a used P45. Almost new, no marks on the barrel from firing but the previous owner put about 50-70 rounds through it. I filled out the warranty card and mailed to Kahr so I was the "First" owner.
Nothing but problems. FTF, FTE's like crazy. Began to smooth out after about 300 rounds but still had failure to go into battery issues. Sent it to Kahr Oct 14. Just got it back Nov 6. They put about 280 rounds through it with no failures.
So I'm going out tomorrow to try it again myself. Fingers crossed.

First outing resulted in 3 FTE out of 50 rds fired.

Cleaned, lubed and took a second trip to the range. 100 rounds fired. For the first time in over 750 rounds, I had NO issues.
That is not good.

I just got my P45 to run without failure. I'm still conditioned from experience to anticipate a jam after every shot fired. The last 250 rds have been almost flawless.
I'll keep it running wet the way I have been.

Let a friend shoot 4 mags in a row last Sunday. It was the first Kahr he'd ever fired. He loved it! No failures. Since he was shooting an XDs45, he wasn't accustomed to the long Kahr trigger pull and reset.
I'm not even sure if I am even after 1,150 rounds fired since September 16, 2013 when I bought it. I never quite now when The Beastie's going to go BANG!

It was the first time shooting with this guy who is a co-worker. We always talk guns when at work but we never went out. I think he was surprised that I was hitting everything I shot at. I saw him a couple times out the corner of my eye watching me plink away at his steel target without failure or miss. Really caught his attention. It's only a 3.5" barrel! I was having a blast showing off the accuracy of this Little Monster. Making a Coke can jump around from 25 yards in the cold desert air warmed my heart. I concur with John Lennon, "Happiness is a warm gun, yeah."
I'm really pretty excited now to have a gun that works. It's all I think about. I feel like a little kid with a brand new bike and he wants nothing more than to ride around all day long.
Now to shop for a belt and holster!
