Hey guys, yesterday I posted about ftf with my cw45. Today I went to the range again to give it another shot before selling it. I have put at least 400 rounds through it by now. While shooting lawman 230gr fmj range rounds, it was flawless. I then shot pmc bronze JHP and it would have a ftf every few shots.....switched back to the fmj and it's flawless again. Could it just be that my gun doesn't like this particular bullet? Has anyone else had experience with pmc?

Mine shoots anything I put in it. I even shoot my reloads without a problem. I have about 1500 rounds thru mine. It may just need more rounds thru it.

YES !!
It is entirely possible that your firearm does not like that particular batch of ammo. Might be the shape of the projectile or it may well be that that particular batch has a low powder load.
It may well be like my sons Sig Mosquito and it may well loosen up a bit with some use and it may decide to like that ammo better. My sons Mosquito has a hankerin for some CCI Mini Mags and does not particularly enjoy playing with some of the 500 rounds to the box fodder. In the beginning it would not run that cheaper ammo at all, now if the gun is clean and freshly lubed you can run that cheaper ammo for a few mag fulls pretty much without issue. But set her down and let her cool a bit and then try to go back to that cheaper fodder and she wont run at all.

Welcome cityus1 to Kahrtalk...Your gun is still tight and just needs more rounds to loosen up and be happy with most ammo...PMC is good ammo but the bullet shape may not be to your pistol's liking...Try some Hornady Critical Defense JHP and see if they will feed..The Hornady CD ammo has more of a cone shape and has worked in any pistol of any caliber I have ever tried it in and is top rated CCW street ammo....Also try Speer short barrel, Winchester PMX1, or Federal Guard Dog JHP and see if your gun likes them....
Read the Proper Prep of a new Kahr sticky, clean and lube it per the diagram and just keep shooting it, your aim will get better and the gun will get smoother....You can mirror polish the feed ramp and chamber with some 1000 grit 3M black sandpaper and some Flitz or Mothers mag wheel polish and it will help the feeding a lot...Kahr pistols are super tight when new and require several cycles of shooting and cleaning to be 100% but once there you will enjoy a very accurate and reliable gem of a pistol....good luck with yours and let us know how it works out and if you still want to sell it you will be able to here with no problem as the CW45 is a highly sought after pistol....

I don't think that there is any way for this ammo to have a low powder load. All PMC ammo is manufactured to SAMMI specs and each powder charge is electronically weighed to a tolerance of + or - one tenth of a grain.
I agree with getsome. Shoot it like you stole it.

My CW45 won't chamber critical defense hollow points. sounds like the ammo to me. I've heard about problems with PMC JHP.
I carry federal hollow points in my CW45. They work every time. If FMJ works good just work on finding a good defense round.
I shoot lots of PMC FMJ and it works fine, but only FMJ

In time you should have more options. For now, shoot what shoots.

There is as much possibility of it having a low powder load as there is a hot powder load and that has happened before with several manufacturers. It aint a huge possibility but the possibility is there.

Read PMC bronze powder charges. There is zero chance. Every powder charge is electronically weighed. If a single powder charge varies by two tenths of a grain the production line stops.

For general target practice, PMC FMJ is my favorite ammo. I've never tried their JHP, though. It wouldn't surprise me if the shape of the projectile is causing an issue with your feed ramp.

I shoot PMC bronze in my CW45 regularly, but it's FMJ not hollow points. It performs well

I've always found PMC to be fairly hot ammo unlike some Federal and Winchester. My Detonics 1911 likes hot loads and PMC 45 has always worked. It doesn't like Federal bulk or WWB. Have you checked the length - maybe it's slightly long. The two CW45's I've owned have never failed, and it's possible they had some PMC along the way.

By the looks of the jamb it could be an extractor problem. It appears that the rim of the cartridge is hanging up on the extractor. It could be that your gun doesn't like that particular brand of ammo, but both of my kahr pistols love PMC.

Yup, or as near zero as anyone should rightly expect. PMC is very high quality ammo.
