Sitting in the man cave last night thinking about what to get my daughter for her 19th birthday. Look over in my gun cabinet and there sits a very cherry Browning Sweet 16 that I bought new in the late 80's. Its the *** version, made by Miroku and every bit as fine a fit and finish as a Belgium plus in vector choke tubes and steel shot capable. I seldom hunt and when I do it's usually rabbits behind a buddy's beagles and I use a light as a feather Zoli 20 gauge side by side for that...the Browning's collecting dust.

Now my daughter loves to shoot and she's a better shot than I am with my 57 year old eyes but she shoots my guns. Traded that Browning in today for a NIB Sig P238 .380 AND a Walther PPK/s .22, the new nickel version. She gets her choice later tonight but I hope she goes for the Walther! I'll keep the loser for myself as a camping/fishing, pair of shorts weapon (though they are both pretty heavy for single stack mouse guns..no plastic). I wanted her to gain more proficiency and learn proper care of a firearm before she gets her CC in a couple of years. Then she can get a Kahr DAO for carry.

My anti-gun wife just rolled her eyes. Might be headin' for the couch tonight men!

Hang in there..my wife started out anti gun but over the years and after going shooting with me has done a complete turn around. She has taken the class to get her concealed carry permit and now wants a sig equinox 238.
My dtr is also 19 and loves to go shooting with us. Good time for the whole family. :)

Inventory turnover. As an A5 guy, this was a hard post to read in terms of thinking of selling an A5. But hey if you don't shoot it trade it. I would have gone the XD S 9 mm route or training 22 lr. like a S&W 41. Good luck on the leftovers.

Sorry to hurt you Salty! Just seldom shot the A-5. Won't be the case with these!

The couch is worth an addition to the collection...

Well she like them both but the verdict is out until she shoots them. She's leaning towards the Sig due to its smaller frame and the gold "We The People.." along the slide and the liberty bell on top of it. My kid the Patriot!

Sounds like you raised her right.

That makes it worth her getting the Sig even though you had your eye on it.

She was at a church function this evening so I HAD to make sure those pistols functioned correctly before she joins me shooting tomorrow. Ran 100 rounds thru the little Walther. Had 2 FTF's, both on the second round early on. Cleared and ran like a rabbit after that. No recoil at all on that heavy little pea shooter. You can put a lot of little hunks of lead in the kill zone real quick like. I'm going to have to paint the front sight though. Its tiny and not good for old eyes. The Sig was flawless. Big night sights and smooth as butter. My CW-45 was perfect too and nearing completion of break in. Still getting used to the long trigger pull but getting better. Fun day. Just got through cleaning all 3!

if that's all it takes, I could certainly get used to the couch......... how many nights are required on the couch per gun?

Since it's already mid-August, how many new guns can I acquire before the end of the year?

I'd sleep on the floor covered with a dirty horse blanket for the rest of the year for a rigged out Ruger Scout Rifle ...... naahhh, she'd never fall for it
