I've been eying these for a year or so. I was convinced I needed a stainless model and was planning on hunting one down at the next gun show. Today I was visiting my son and grandson, with a gun shop visit thrown in as well. A triple play!. There in this shop was a very nice used Mannlicher, blued, (but that's OK), with a usable 4X32 Simmons scope for $325. Too good to pass up. Here it is... my "new" Ruger 10/22, to replace the one I gave my son, (who will one day pass it to his son).

I really like that! Gets me to thinking...

pretty sure someone somewhere is making that aftermarket stock for my little 10/22???

EDIT: Yikes!!! The stocks I just found after a quick search cost more than what I paid for my 10/22 new! Of course, it is getting on about 20 years old now.

Still thinking about it, though.

Another place here in town now has a green laminate stainless one for $250...UGH! I already agreed not to spend the money on one, and then bam, another one for $100 less!

Ripley, enjoy the new rifle. I love the look of the long stock on these short guns.

Always nice to see another 10/22 find a good home. I'm sure you will enjoy it for a very long time.

Be careful with the upgrades if you decide to do any. I started off with a bone stock 10/22 and proceeded to replace every single part on the rifle, including the receiver. Before I knew it I had taken a basic plinker to a gun that shoots groups like this...

8948

That is 5 shots at 50 yds on a breezy day. I just wish I could find some ammo to feed it.

Ripely I saw one of these Mannlicher 10/22's new at the GS the other day for $339. It was sweet and lately I've been thinking of putting a M1 carbine stock on my 10/22 Carbine. Is this a good price? And in your opinion is it a better more accurate shooter then the normal 10/22.
This is the one I currently own but I'm just not into plastic stocks, and am still kicking myself for not grabbing a wooden stock 10/22 when I had the chance. I think I must have had a senior moment at the time.

I did a quick search on Midway and stocks range from $92 for basic birch to $166 for Mannlicher walnut. My experience is the aftermarket stocks are much more expensive than factory replacement.

I have a walnut/blued/manny too, nice.
And a SS one with Z wood I bought in walmart in 1995, in the box unfired
Oh wait, I lost it in that boating accident.
nevermind:crazy:

Check out Boyds gunstocks if your seeking aftermarket stocks.

I've used several of them and the are good stuff. Both finished and unfinished, drop in or some require a little fitting.

They continue to grow and improve, adding more models and brands all the time.

They have a ton of 10/22 stuff.
