I just noticed on my new to me yesterday CM9 that the slide stop spring screw is rubbing on something since the finish is worn off a bit. I found out from a search that it's a Torx head,it looked hex last night in poor lighting.

I Assume it's rubbing on the slide stop??? The slide stop clears the magazine follower nicely though.

I was in a hurry during the buy that I couldn't get the slide off timely and we were on the way to a reunion so I just bought it and ran.:7:

Anyone care to share what size torx bit I need?

The screw on my CW9 has similar wear and it works well. I forget about it for now

I always forget but I think #6? Jocko has it tattoo'd on his forearm so he remembers. I agree that it's best not to mess with it as long as everything is working. I don't like messing with a screw that goes into tupperware. Easy to strip.

Yep! My PM40 has a T6 Torx screw. I believe it is the same size on the 9mm pistols.

I don't have it tattooed anywhere, but the T6 driver is lying on my bench. ;)

Edited to add: Be careful to heed Bawanna's warning about using too much torque, if you tighten it. Greg provides some detailed guidance about this and other issues in this thread: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1612 a highly recommended read for anyone and especially helpful for new owners.

It works as is,so It'll stay as is.I'll follow the KISS principle and worry about when an issue arises, maybe order some replacement screws and springs ahead of time.

Maybe it's the recoil, but I have to check my P40's SL screw often. That's the first thing I check if I start having any problems at the range. DON"T OVERTIGHTEN that METAL screw into PLASTIC threads!

Hey, Wynn!

Have you tried degreasing the screw and hole threads? Neither of my fire breathing PM40's screws ever budges and I did not tighten them much at all.

However, I did clean both the screws and the holes with brake cleaner spray.

Yeah, the first time was more or less accidental in the case of the frame hole. :o

Best of luck!

No worry, Bawanna. I learned as a truck mechanic that if you tighten a screw until it strips you just back it out a quarter turn and all is good. :)

Speaking of Tattoos. When I was in the Navy I had the word "Shorty" tattooed on my pen!s. (That's dick to you, Jocko.) But, when I get excited it reads, "Shorty's Bar and Grill Chattanooga, Tennesee".
