Today was our wedding anniversary, a couple days ago I was talking to my wife about going out and shooting my CW9. She suggested that I should wait and WE could go today. With this beening one of the few times we have someone to watch our kids, I thought I better take her up on the offer.

Shs has shown little interest is shooting, but I have asked her a few times if she wanted to go, so I was shocked when SHE suggested we should go. I figured I better get her out there since she was showing some interest in learning.

It turned out great, and she shot really well for it being here first time ever shooting! I think she was more impressed with herself than I was.

Now comes the trouble part... we get in the car and she says, I really liked shooting your gun but I think I need my OWN! Her birthday is in October, she does't know it yet but I already got her a gun. Now I have to try and hide it for 2 months.

She is already making plans with one of her friends to do a shooting couples night, as they also enjoy an evening at the range.

I have a feeling this may get expensive...

Expensive but NICE! If she understands your wants and desires in guns and has wants and desires of her own, that just has to be a good thing.
And it's hands down a ton cheaper than Diamonds and Gold and all manner of Bling.

Hopefully you guys can share or maybe do the opposite of everything else in marriage, use hers but have her leave yours alone, naw, that ain't gonna work, I can feel it in my cells.

Better have her sign up and join us as well, well maybe that ain't a good idea either, every man needs his oasis.

It's worth whatever it cost. But as you said it can get REALLY expensive.

If you can find her one gun of her own that she likes and then just buy ammo you'll be lucky. If she decides she needs as many guns as shoes, you're in trouble. It's still all good though.

Our anniversary is this coming Saturday. We'll have to see how it pans out.

She did mention going shooting in the morning but she already has a gun so I think she's just being nice?

Or buttering me up since she wants to go to the county fair in the afternoon.
I do tire of that every year, we usually end up going 2 or 3 times. When daughter was in 4H we lived there. Had enough.

I hope your wife's new found hobby works out well for you both.

CM9, I think it will fit her smaller hands nicely.

I would definitely like to get my wife out to the range a few times just so she could get comfortable handling a gun ... just in case she ever needed to. But I seriously doubt that she would ever really get into it in any on-going way. She's a musician, and into home decorating and antiques, etc., so guns probably wouldn't be her thing. But it would be nice to have her interested in something I like once in a while.

So more power to you, rahmann62 ... and Happy Anniversary!

The best six words in the English language.....

I'd love it if my wife had and interest in owning her own pistol.. I told her she could have the pic of the litter ,or I'd take her to the GS so she could try anyone she wanted. So far no luck.

My wife has just started shooting with me after 29 years. I love it and am getting her a Ruger SR22 in Purple as soon as I can find one!

I'd rather her have a gun than a knife. Remember Lorena Bobbit. Gave John Wayne a "bob" job.

There are four things that a real man never does. Teach his wife how to shoot, fish, hunt, or play golf. That's nothing but asking for trouble. :)

Having a wife interested in firearms is a good thing. Mine has her own CW40 with Crimson Trace laser and is very supportive about going to the range, either together or by myself. She never questions buying ammo, either.
