I think I ordered it on Monday and got it today-super fast !!!
The barrel has what appears to be a very "mat-type" finish but the strange thing is it is unbelievably smooth to the touch. Are these barrels coated with something???
The ramp is very nicely finished as is chamber and bore. Rifling is so smooth it looks like its polygonal.
Going to the range tomorrow and I can't wait to try it out. Already installed a Galloway spring kit that I tried out during my last range outing and I love it.

My ported P9 barrel looked like a LEAD finish... unpolished and dull... but shoots okay, though. The ported Kahr barrels throw the blast/flash forward rather than just up as the Mag-na-porting does... less visible flash.
The barrel rifling IS polygonal... I think! Ported P9 barrel on the right:

Firing ported P9 and link there to barrel comparisons:

Its a finish, no more no less, under that is the nickel plating which u can polish off that dull finsih and have one nice shinny ass barrel. Where metal to metal makes contact, it will wear off that dull finish. either way it hurts nadda to leave it as it is ..:Amflag2:

I had to run a patch through my P9 so that I could see the rifling... dusty from carry! It's polygonal. Only the "C" series have regular rifling and the ported barrels are for the "Precious" models as well.

Yes, lead finish is the best way to describe it. Besides the cw40 I have a cw9, pm9 and a p380 and the barrels (if I remember correctly ) started out pretty shiny. I "pimped" 'em all out with my bench mounted buffer and they shine really nice now.
If the "lead" finish isn't some kind of special coating--it's gonna have to go!!!

It will polish up pretty as Jocko said. I complained... sort of... about my lead-finished P380 barrel when I was sending the second one back for service. It came back in the same condition... maybe it's another cost cutting measure?? My original P380 has a shiny barrel. Shine or not doesn't bother me.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me either-I just like piddlin' with my guns!
The ammo test in the comped gun is pretty cool. You missed out on probably the most "exciting" load though-Remington UMC.
I'd picked up a box of 380 and 9mm UMC hollow point ammo because it was real cheap at the time and wanted to check function with hollow point rounds. I was shooting at an indoor range at the time and when I squeezed off a round in my standard cw9 it scared me! The fireball was the size of a basketball and I actually did a quick assessment of the pistol to make sure it was ok. It was just dark enough inside to really show off the flame.

Yeah, I noticed that in other tests... that UMC was bright and dirty/smoky. MFS is another that's bright. I did a lot of "flash" testing with my Mag-na-ported P40. The Kahr ported barrels don't throw all of that flash up in your face, but forward and away. I don't know what the difference is recoil-wise, though. I have two .40's... the P40 and my G23C, and both give the bright in-you-face Vee-flash! The wussiest was PPU... noticeably less flash and recoil. Anything else felt like +P after shooting the 180-gr FMJ PPU.

Took out the CW40 comp today and all I can say is what a difference!!! I also had my CW9 with me and I have to say that the difference between the two was there but it wasn't a GREAT difference in recoil. The CW40 wasn't terrible before but it's MUCH better now. If the 9mm comped barrel has the same "impact" on the felt recoil that the CW40 Barrel has-it must shoot like a 38 wadcutter in a big S.W. revolver!
Here's a before picture of the barrel:

And here's one after I got done putting a shine on it! I'm very happy with the purchase.

I just did the hood and crown on mine (same as my P9) I also did my sear, trigger bar and the hump on the inside of the slide. That means my warranty is worthless and S&W won't sell me parts if something happens  I don't care about the warranty, but it pisses me off that they won't let you buy the parts to fix your gun and want to charge you a ridiculous amount for a simple fix :32:

That's one of the GREAT things about Kahr-yu can buy ALL of the parts for your pistol if you want to.
Smith is really blowing it with the SD...
