I'm planning to go the the range tonight to road test a couple of pistols. I'm looking for a house gun and plan to shoot a Glock 19 Gen 4 and an FNH FNS-9. I'll give you a range report on both guns ASAP.

look forward to the test results -- both fine pistols ----- but, for a house gun, I recommend:

Glock 17 with a TLR 1 for me. You are definitely headed in the right direction with those choices. Good luck picking one.

I liked the build quality of the Glock and the Glock magazines were great, as was the new Gen 4 trigger, but the FNS fit may hand better and I shot far more accurately with it. Both are very nice guns. I still haven't made up my mind, but I'm leaning toward the FNS. I don't think that I could go far wrong with either gun.

Glock 23 G4 works for me as a home defense piece. It's a little tall in grip height for what I like to carry daily, but if I had to, I still could.

Also picked up a kkm barrel and some others bits so I can convert it to shoot 9mm as well.

One thing about those Italian guns dago bang when you pull the trigger. :)

Use the one you feel comfortable with and shoot the best.

I mostly liked the G19 I recently was given. Experience is very limited as it's only been out once for a shake down test. It's a gen. 2 so the feel is a bit different from the gen. 4, but IMHO the size is good, the accuracy was OK, the fiber optic sights were nice and the recoil more than acceptable. I compared it to my HK USPcompact. I prefer the HK but the Glock could grow on me... good gun.

What I liked most about the Gen 4 was the build quality and the magazines. If Glock would round the corners of the grip more and get rid of the square trigger guard they would achieve true perfection. That aside I think that they are both great guns. I may have to swallow hard and buy one of each. Decisions, decisions.

I carry a G23 daily because I have to (same frame as the G19) and it doesn't really fit my hand well. However I have a G17 and it fits my hand perfectly. You may want to give one of those a run if you get a chance. I shoot it better than anything else I have. 17+1. FWIW/YMMV.
