I picked up a PM40 today and noticed afterward that the right forward slide rail is nearly gone. Is this normal and if not is this covered under warranty? The slide feels secure otherwise. Is this something I can purchase?

photo kinda fuzzy, but the slide does not ride on the polymer rails. Looks normal to me

on that right front rail, thereis just a small tab that sticks out, ans all that tab doe sis help u guide the slide on to the frame without fokking things up. It looks to me like it is there but fuzzy.:amflag:

You need to look your pistol over when the slide is off. The slide runs on the to metal insert down inside the frame where the recoil spring runs and the two metal tabs in the rear where the polymer "rails" are. The part of the polymer rails that is wearing is just there to aid assemble and help control any dirt/trash for getting inside the pistol. There never was much poly rail n the right side anyhow. Clean up the plastic . Some will stop "wearing" quickly with only a couple rounds , some my scape off a little poly for 100 rounds. Keep it well lubed at first and shoot away.

Could you shoot a new photo?
As others have said, the slide rides on metal rails and the polymer will wear a bit during break-in. If the rail has worn off more that normal on only one side, it would be good to figure out why. A photo will help us to see if it is normal wear or not.
