Any other owners out there? I love this thing. Best revolver I've ever owned. Simple, but effective. Now, it's the only thing the wife wants to shoot.

very, very nice. I had a Security Six several years ago and it took me quite some time to work my way into the SP101 .... which is the modern five hole version of your speed six. I love 'em.

Thanks.

A 9mm, that's doubly nice...a very desirable Ruger.:)

The grips are Herrett's Shooting Stars. I thinned them down some and rounded the bottom edges.

Greg

Those grips look nice.................the only Herrett's I ever see have the checkering. I've been watching Gunbroker for a while and drooling................a lot of speed sixes for sale, some pretty bad, others, beauties.........in fact, there's a new one on there right now, among others......they do get a pretty good dollar. Would never get rid of mine.

Greg, I thought you had one with stag grips, was that a security six maybe. I thought it was a Ruger DA.

My my memory is finally giving up.

Your memory is good boss. I do have a Security Six that used to have stag grips on it.

It's wearing other grips now so that it handles a little more like it's six inch brethren.

No, it's not a factory finish. That's abrasive blasted stainless steel that has been lightly buffed with a cutting compound.

Still have my Service Six .357 - bought it new in 1977.

I have heard Ruger fanciers say any of the revolvers whose finish turns plum color are prized.

Gosh memories.....

My first handgun was the stainless Security-Six, four inch. I tried a lot of grips with it, ended up with some Badger grips. Then I got a Speed-Six in 2-1/2 in blue. Kept the stock grips on that to keep it small. Later I had a 6" stainless Security-Six. Great guns all, never a problem and I put some outrageously hot handloads thru that six inch one. I can't remember why I sold them. Probably to finance something else that suited my fancy at the time. I took the hammer spur and the SA notch off the hammer of the Speed-Six, making it double action only.

Now, I've got that SP-101, another great revolver. Mine's a very early .38 Special in 3" with the green Xenoy grip panels. No longer made in 3" .38, only in .357. I don't miss the lack of magnum in a revolver though.

My dad owns a security six or speed six - I'm not sure?
Personally I'm a pre-lock Smith guy.
My favorite 357 is a S&W 65-3 M&P 3" heavy barrel I call Special K.

I've only sold one handgun in my life.
A stainless USP 45 compact.
I still regret that sale and hang on to all my guns these days...

My nephew toted one of those when he was a deputy sheriff back in the '80s.
Now he's a police officer and carries a Glock .40.

The SS is a lot purtier.
