Hello,
I'm new to this site and finally got around to breaking in the PM9. It shot flawlessly no FTF or FTE. But I was inspecting the brass and notice each and every primer strike was very high! Some are almost right on the edge of the primer. I have contacted Kahr and talked to Melanie. I sent them pics of the casings and slide face along with what I think is a misaligned barrel. Was wondering if all the PM9's were like this? Melanie said this was normal for the pistol! I have other handguns and they all strike the primers dead center. Every round fired, so I'm just wondering if this is cause for concern?

I'm at max bandwidth for photobucket so I'll link to my pics:

IMHO the answer to your question is your second sentence. As long as it fires and cycles fine I don't think you have any issue to be concerned about. As you break it in and keep shooting it it'll get smoother and smoother.

Welcome to the group!

Hi NBMiata, the primer strikes are normal for a Kahr and is nothing to worry about....Can't really tell from your pictures what you are looking at as far as the barrel not in alignment but if it's shooting 100% I would venture to say there are no problems....Some folks new to Kahr look at the business end of the slide and see the barrel has a gap at the top of the slide barrel hole opening and think there's something wrong but there all designed like that so the barrel has room to tilt during recoil....Welcome to Kahr talk and I'm sure some folks will come along and offer an opinion on the barrel pictures...

Thanks guys! Sorry the pic of the barrel is the chamber portion. From where the front of the chamber rests in the slide and rear of chamber rests in the slide. The rear is lower then the front. I should have been more clear my mistake there! LOL. Just threw me a bit with the high primer strikes. I'll keep shooting it, I have already 250 through it and about another 52 I'll burn through as well. This is one heck of a nice hand gun! I polished the heck out of the barrel and feed ramp along with the sear and firing pin, for a smoother action. Just wish I could find more 9mm ammo!!

I hear ya on the ammo deal....Still not much on the shelves here in Georgia and when it does show up it's pricy....I think I understand what you are saying about the barrel and Kahr's are milled that way by design same as with the offset feed ramp, just one of the many things that maks a Kahr different from other small semi auto pistols...

Many new owners ask about the bulge in the polymer frame forward of the trigger guard and it's normal same as the little notch in the left front steel slide rail all normal but different....

If you haven't done so yet go to the new member forum and carefully read the third sticky down titled "Proper Prep of a New Kahr", lots of good info there as well as the other stickys...Good luck with your new PM9 and we're glad you found us, many many good folks and great Mod's hang out here and are more than willing to help you out with anything that may come up....

Thanks and I lurked here hard core reading up the stickies. It was a PITA the first time breaking down the complete slide but now its cake work thanks to the stickies.

Would love to shoot the pm9 more its just finding reasonable priced ammo is not very easy here in cali (planning to leave this state ASAP)
