The Balitimore County PD has picked the FNS-40LS (Long Slide) pistol as their new sidearm. The pistol packs 14+1 .40 caliber rounds, has a 5 inch barrel and come with upgraded night sights. Sounds like a very nice pistol indeed. Read more about the pistol, it's configuration and selection process here: http://www.guns.com/2013/09/03/baltimore-county-pd-picks-fns-40ls-duty/

Excellent choice. It should serve them well.

I was just a bit surprised about the caliber. Many departments are trading in their .40's for 9mm's. I guess Baltimore is going from Glock Model 22? .40's to the FNS .40's. Just looking at the two pistols, the FNS appears to be a little more comfortable in the grip area than the Glock, though I've not held either, and all are being made ambidextrous, and have interchangeable back straps to help fit them to each individuals hand. Plus, it's a damn nice looking weapon and I believe is made in the USA.

My range/LGS has been featuring these pistols. Feedback has been excellent, although I'm not a fan of poly guns.

It's one fine looking poly gun though.
