First Post.
I'll try and not show too much of my ignorance:) I own 2 Kahr Pistols. New to me in the last week or so.

CW 9 never fired but soon will be.. I will use this as my hiking and kick around gun. Seems to be the perfect tool for this. Also, I have a Ported barrel that I used in a K98 elite a few years back...

1st Question... will this barrel fit the CW 9.. My assumpiton is not just from looking. But, no expert here.

I picked up a used Covert 40 this week from my local shop says covert on the box, so, I'm assuming it came from Kahr as a Covert and not one modified by the previous owner.
The S/N /CZ 0685. What year was this piece produced? The gun seems to be in good condition, having been shot some but, how much I don't know. I know the 40 will be tough to shoot at the range but I'm interested in carry a lot and shoot a little with this gun.

2nd Question... Will this little gun hold up to the 40 cal? Is the reputation of the covert 40 good? Any thing, I should look for? Is the magna port or the ported barrel a good option? And, any other advice you might have.

Thanks in advance..

Good question. I would call kahr on the barrel thing, get the correct answer and not one from here that might just be a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess). My guess is not it will not interchange. Looks like it should be my bet Kahr will say no.. The Covert 40, now that is a dandy gun. While your on the phone with kahr run that serial number by them, they will give u its birth date. My guess and it is a SWAG ,,,, late 99 to early 2002.

No sweat on the durability of the gun to take what ever the 40 cal can put out either. No doubt your gonna know your shooting a 40 cal especially since it was made in the covert version, but that is one dandy gun. No doubt from my stand point, if I owned it, I would magna port it in a heart beat. then it willbe a real pleasure to shoot...I think the reason they dropped the covert kahrs was when they brought on line the PM series kahrs..

Ihave never read of any kahr being "shot" out..

Thanks, jocko. I'll give Kahr a call next week. I really like this little gun. I'm gonna make it a regular carry piece this summer, after I have a chance to check it out a little more and get some rounds down range.
I'm seriously considering a CW 45, I was fondling it last week when I came across the Covert. I'm lusting for the 45 but may have to wait as I have a Sig 220 elite carry inbound. I'm spending my retirement, NOW. Don't want to wait for Obama to redistribute it to some other poor unguided soul..

Where's my cheese, my govment cheese??

Can't believe I said that!! Must be my age?

I love guns..

My CW9 has been perfect. No pinky dangle. Highly concealable. Quicker draw from holster than pocket. Added the Crimson Trace laser because my eyes are as old as the rest of me. Dressed in a Mitch Rosen fine leather OWB holster at three oclock. Couldn't be happier. Selling all my range guns.
SA1911 and XDm9.

u would have the best of both worlds with the covert 40 cal. probably smaller then the 45 and one hell of a hot caliber to boot, Course as manys ay, u can't have enough guns. For the big bore guys, the 45 kahrs are starting to get legs..

jocko,

"45 khars are starting to get legs" does that mean people are not happy with the 45's or the opposite. They are liking them??

thx

I'd have to say the later. Hard to keep them on the shelf. Very popular. I'm headed to a gunshow momentarily to continue the search myself. Don't see many our here for some reason.

I had a CW45 for a couple of months, but decided I wanted a PM45 instead. I traded the CW back to my LGS for a preowned but unfired PM45. I lost a little money on the CW, but made it up on the used PM. So far it's shot about 150 rounds of ball and HP's w/o any problems. It did have the "gap" and "notch" issue, so I had to hand rack it on the first round, but Kahr took care of both problems, replaced the Recoil assy, polished the ramp, and still had it back in 5 days. I am very impressed with their CS, and also with the little 45. I haven't really noticed much difference in recoil between the CW and PM, but you do lose one round.

BTW, I have also been thinking about a 220 Carry for colder weather and to keep my 9mm SIGs company. However this past week I finally realized I would never force myself to break loose with the extra $'s, so I bought an M&P c 45 Thursday.

Had it changed for me. Went to my LGS to handle the CW45, again. While I was there and asking all the questions regarding PM45s and Khars in general.

The owner gets on the phone with his distributor and No pm45's But, a BNIB PM9 DLC night sights. I said yes, It will be here tomorrow, WED, I'm excited. Not my first PM9 but it's been a few years and I strayed away from Khar's for a while. Hopefully, I'm all grown up and mature, now and will make this little jewel and long time keeper.

The CW 45 was interesting but I have the CW9, I'm gonna spend a little more time with my recently accquired Khars before I take the 45 acp Khar plunge..

IMHO 45+Kahr=Good Times. Then again I like things that go boom.
