We had the pleasure to have many of our family members spend our vacation with us here in Nevada. Some had asked me to take them shooting. I attempted to give them a cross section of what I had to offer. Attentiveness and safety. I would also add that our public lands look terrible. Much of the mess is from gun owners.
We pack our mess, and that includes shotgun hulls. It was embarrassing to show new shooters how poorly we gun people care for our lands. One gun owner represents all.
Fun times had by all.
We shot:
MkII, Beretta 70, G19, 1911A1, SAR1, Saiga12, Browning A5, Ruger 10/22.
I provided instruction for every gun, and a safety briefing/history of each gun.
The 3D torso is my own creation. Cardboard and duct tape. It can be clothed and armed. Best part is it is easily repaired. It is a very useful item.

gunpapa,
great time sounds like. always nice to spend time w/ family and develop new gun owners/shooters. but THANK YOU very much for the keeping the land clean comment. many gun folks seem to forget that, so everyone take note and clean up after yourselves, even on public land.
there is a public range I used to frequent about an hour and a half from home and it is filthy. it's a shame and an embarrassment to us all. people leave cans, paper targets, bottles, even shot up stuffed animals...just goes to show there are PLENTY of gun owners out there that should not be. they have no respect for anything.
i'm happy to be a member of a local private range now. one of the cleanest and most pleasant places to visit. hmmm. going tomorrow :-)
keep it clean boys and girls.

Locals used to shoot in to a slag pile behind the water treatment plant. I shot there one day and cleaned up my mess and the mess left by others. When I was leaving I ran into the grounds keeper. He was going out to post no shooting signs. He asked me what I had in the garbage bags. I told him that I'd picked up the trash left by other shooters. He told me that he was posting the land, but that I could come back anytime. We got to be good friends and shot quite a bit together.

Yes. I am blessed as this area is literally down the street from home.

The closest out door range to me is 50 miles one way. There is an in door one that's 15 miles away.

That must be miserable. I have a County $2 admission metered/bench 300 yard range 5 miles from me. I never go there. Too far.

More of my style of shooting today. No new shooter pleasantry.
Today I took my Wife out by herself. This time just on the naked duct tape target so she can see her hits and progress as she learns the gun, transitioning from her sold off G26. It is her new P380 just over the 200 round mark. She was learning running the gun in close contact drills, i.e contact, yelling, shooting/not shooting, additional threat scanning, moving rearward while keeping duress on threat, moving to cover, and getting witnesses involved.
All point shooting stuff.
Fortunately these are among the many things we can do in this area. We can even get our cars involved.
My Wife found that she prefers to just run the gun one handed. She has great control, and it is amazing just how little recoil the P380 has. Great little gun.
The next training will be with the training dummy fully clothed to add realism.
My only criticism is the low cut shirt is a shooting no-no.
This was the end string on a fresh target shooting fast and while retreating.

In my experience I've found that low cut shirts do not effect shooting in any negative way. Actually I think it enhances the experience and makes a far better shooter.
Incidently, your wife is much better looking than you. Any future photo's should include her. I think she just has a more believable and intelligent face, and of course the low cut shirt (I think girls call em blouses) only helps the overall effect of the photo experience.
PS- shooting like that I will most assuredly do whatever the hell she tells me to do. No questions asked.

Kudos to all of you for promoting shooting in a positive way. And... low cut blouse might give rise to the Hot Brass in the ______ area Dance. Fill in the blank... the one that sounds like City was kind of catchy... if you know whut I mean.

I have to agree on all points. She takes instruction well. She is a motivated shooter.

Either gun pappa is real tall or she is real short or perhaps a combo of both.
That's a tattoo you sicko. The bruises are around her eyes, hence the big sunglasses. I know, I wear them all the time myself.
But his and her AK's.......that's what dreams are made of right there.
Lovely photo. Try to photoshop yourself out of the next one please.

I think you got it right. Just don't tick her off. EVER!
That SAR1 looks damn small in your hands, sir. You are a big mofo.
Good on you for training new shooters.
