I can get a new one for $389 plus tax and background check. He's asking $375 for CW45 with one mag, $425 would include 2 mags and 2 holsters (which I don't particularly want).
What is fair price for used CW45 with an extra 6 round mag assuming good shape?
In all honesty it all boils down to what your willing to pay. However I paid 389 for mine new in the box last year, pre Sandy Hook, with one mag no holster. I think it is fair if the weapon is in good shape and everything is disclosed. Look at this way since its used the owner should not mind you firing 50 rounds through it. If it works without hiccups then I would say grab it. If you get many FTF or FTE then that might be the reason its up for sale. A fair price is anything a person is selling for and another person is willing to pay.

I would pay $50 more to get a new gun and a 5 year warranty. Afair price eithe rnew or used is what u are realy wlling to pay. Nothing wrong with a used gun, but I oftean ask yself,"why did it get traded in"?. 95% are OK, no doubt about thaty. some just never cuddle up to a kahr either, so iff it goes.
the problem with most buying a used gun the serial umber will tell kahr how old itis, sou can't hardly pawn off to them it is a new gun with issues if it is 3+ yearsold. If u bought it new and 3 years later, u had issues u have some warranty coming. It would be very nice if u co7uld test shoot the 45 before buying, that will tell youy alot of whether it is OK and also if ulike it. I agree. there could be 1 holsters that come with it but u only gonna have one u need,. Normally that extra stuff is useless to most new buyers..

Local shops had the CW45 priced just under $400 new, but none of them had any in stock.
I found a used one with a IWB Kohlster and a separate mag holster, 2 extra 1911 mags, and a box of FMJ for $450.
I got it before someone else did.

Thanks all. I fired it today. it shot ok. There were a couple failure to feed, a couple failure to eject, and the slide did not lock back 2 times on the empty mag. Shot 13 HST hollow points and about 30 Blazer brass ball rounds. The recoil was stout but completely manageable. I inspected it before I shot it and it looked clean except there may have been a little (little) scrape mark or something on the far right of the barrel feed ramp. He said he bought it new 2 weeks ago and had only shot 1 mag thru it and that he was selling it because the wife didn't like the recoil and he didn't like the combat sights. The serial number started with SF if someone may know how old that would make it.
I offered $325 for the gun and two mags, he countered $375 for gun and two mags and wasn't willing to go lower or I would have offered $340 at the high end. He did have the warranty card but no receipt. (does Kahr need a receipt to process the warranty?)
LGS has one new for $389.

Thanks Jocko. Good to know on the warranty question. I didn't buy it but let him know to contact me if he decided to come down on the price. If the BX can get one in, I'll buy it. They quoted me $380. Otherwise I'll keep looking. For me a fair price boiled down to 20% or so off for being used.

FYI, spare mags run better than $30 so $375 with two mags isn't really that bad of a deal. I would look hard at the used one with a warranty card and no sales tax or forms to fill out. Maybe you can chisel him down a bit more.

I got my CW45 online for $350 shipped to my FFL, I thought that was a great price, I also sold one of my CW45's for $400 face to face with 2 magazines. I guess it really is what someone is willing to pay.

Yep, I considered the cost of the extra mag and the value of a paper free transaction. Perhaps 20% discount for used is too steep. I did find a new one online for $369, free shipping and a $10 transfer fee from LGS here in town. That's the best deal right now.
As far as the magazines, I'd look to a 1911 mag like Greg and others have done. 7 rounds and a more flush fit at the base of the grip. Two of those would be enough.
I bought my used CW45 for $250 it was nearly new showing very little wear and and came with the card, all factory paperwork and a plastic case (original Kahr) I wouldnt consider a used one that close to retail...even if they are scarce...

You did the right thing, I would have walked as well. that pistol had to many problems for the price. Go buy a new one if that is the gun you have your sights on. I would buy an M&P .40 Shield, they are nice pistols, carry one everyday.

Sam,
wish I was as lucky as you...good find!
Dino, I'm sure the M&P is great but .40 is not my round and I already have the best 9mm CCW weapon, the PM9.
I bought a new CW45 online for $369 shipped. Best I can do at this time and not too bad either I think.

I was unaware 1911 magazines would fit. Is this without any modifications?

act-mag 7 rd. officer ( just one example) mine needed a small amount of filing/polishing to clear the slide.

I sold mine with two 6 round mags, for $380. I asked for $400 and came down $20. I always ask a little more than I need for it so I can come down on price a little. Makes the buyer feel better, like he got a deal. Guy started telling me how he could buy them new for such and such, and I said yeah, and spend 200 rounds breaking it in, there $140 right there, and this one's already broke in and reliable. (wiith 6 round mags). I really like the pistol I purchased with the proceeds, just wish I would have had something else I wanted to trade. Oh well, the CW40 is awesome as well, plus I added the extended barrel with the port in it.

You're right, TMan, but this one was not broke in, had FTE and FTF and seller said only 6 rounds thru it. So break-on cost would have been same on this one.
Bif, there are a couple of threads in this forum detailing the 1911 mags, both un-modified and slightly modified and both with original internals and Kahr internals in the 1911 magazine tube.
