Hello, new member here, and just was reading a thread that referred to "normal" grouping for the CM/PM 9. 3-4" groups at 7 yards were mentioned.
Took my new-to-me CM9 (500 rounds down the pipe or so according to the previous owner) out and put a box through to get acquainted.
Well....

5 shots Federal Independence 115gr 7 yards offhand.

20 shots
I've gotta practice more on ALWAYS focusing on the front sight. Catch myself wanting to focus on the target (to see where it hits?) and lose my accuracy a bit.
Guess the BG wouldn't have liked it much, anyway. :D

+1 on focusing on that front sight. Something that really helped me do this for competition speed shooting was a Dawson fiber optic front sight (on both of my M&P's). I still have night sights on my PM for obvious reasons, but if I were ever to change them out, I'd put black rear sights (no white dots) with a Dawson fiber optic front sight. This REALLY draws your eye directly to the front sight very quickly and that front sight does become the primary and initial focus. That glowing front sight just sticks in that black back-ground and the contrast makes it show up like a light bulb. Many highly competitive IDPA shooters do this. Dawson makes a good product. Very rugged and reliable....red or green. Some shooters prefer one color over the other...personal preference.

From what I've seen on the gun and what I've read, changing the front sight on the CM9 is, shall we say, difficult? Or does someone make sights that mount up on it?

Somebody's gotta do it besides just Kahr, I'd say...
Though I usually practice rapid point shooting nowadays..the PM/CM pistols are more accurate than I am.

You'd need to check with Dawson. From what I am reading in this thread, it sounds like it is an easy change. Doesn't take much to give Dawson a call or shoot them an email to confirm. I'm confident there are other fiber optic front sight manufacturers out there for that model Kahr.

I changed out the stock front sight on my CM9 to a trijicon I bought directly from Kahr.
Took me about 15 minutes to make the change, and that's because I took my time.
Couldn't have been easier

Now that's what I like to see. A man demonstrating how to properly install a front sight using a pair of pliers for a hammer. Inspires real confidence. And these people breed.

This is a Dawson Precision Fibre Optic sight. As others have said, a very easy installation. Dawson includes a staking tool with with the sight.
