New CW45 is on the way and I have some questions about modifications:
Anyone use just the front night sight on a CW.45? Kahr sells one for $40. Does it keep point of aim or do I need the rear sight to get it to shoot level?
Has anyone used the Hogue tactical grip in small or large? How is the fit?
What is current status of 1911 magazines? I looked for the Metalform that Greg talked about but it looks like that one is long discontinued. The Act 7 round looks like it is still available and would be good for a carry mag but I'm looking for flush fit for carry.
Of course I'll get it broken in before I change anything; prep thread?...check.
Thanks.

I installed just the Trijicon front sight first and it does keep the point of aim, but I ended up installing the Trijicon rear as well because I like the three dot set up. FWIW, I'm using just the Trijicon front on my CM9, but I've "blacked out" the "i" on the OEM rear sight and find that acceptable.
This setup also shoots to the OEM sights POA
I'm still running that original Metalform as the primary magazine for my CW45 and have not had a single issue with it. I also made spares using Mec-Gar (the Mec-Gar follower and spring may lock the slide back) and Kimber Officer's/Compact magazine tubes with Kahr followers and springs. These also run without issue. IMO, most any make Officer's/Compact magazine tube will work to make a flush fitting mag using Kahr internals. The tubes may (or may not) need some trimming, but that is not difficult to do.
Here's my CW45 with the modified Kimber mag in place. To it's right is a Mec-Gar magazine with MecGar spring and follower (since replaced with Kahr internals) and the originally modified Metalform (to the Mec-Gars's right).

I used the houge jr on my CW40 and CW9, it took some of the recoil down a bit on the 40 and helped keep it in my hand. I went with inner tube on my CW45 , works just as well as the houge jr did on my 40 and you can cut it for a custom fit.
I too was looking for a grip for my CW45, when I heard about using an inner tube on this forum. I really appreciate the tip! The inner tube works great for me. The grip of the gun feels great compared to the hard plastics ridges of the factory grip. And, it was hard to beat the price of an unused inner tube!

And the inner tube is readily available at any Walmart, I had to order my houge, the inner tube was cheaper and I picked it up while grocery shopping!
I agree with Sw! & Decado. Tried the inner tube first, and saw no need to try anything else

I bought mine used with a Houge grip. I'm not sure which one it is though.
Also got some 1911 mags that with it that sometimes locks the slide and sometimes doesn't. Also caused 1 stove pipe.

The Houge is nice! It adds just a little thickness to it and makes the handle fit really well in ur hand. It's hard to see but mine has the finger grove thingy on front.
Here's the mag. I'm not sure the brand.

Thanks ACasper;
I think that's a Handall jr. I have one, trimmed a little, on my PM9 and love it. I think I'll try the Tactical in small; if it fails, I'll get another jr. I like the contour of the Hogue.
