Have em on my Kahr P 40 and the REAR FO rod let loose today. Does anyone know the rod size used for the rear sights?

I can't answer that question but if you call Williams at 1-800-530-9028 I'm sure that they can tell you.

Thanks Muggs for doing some of my leg work. Brownells has replacement fiber-op rods but don't know what size. By the time I waited for Williams to open I could have ordered the Brownells kit and be done with it. Have it at my door Tuesday and repair it. Since it is my carry gun, time is important. However, I was able to heat the end of the rod and flare it enough to stabilize it in the sight housing to be functional for now. I wouldn't want to have many rounds going through the gun because the recoil energy will probably cause it to fail.

I was shooting Sat and stopped by a new gun store. I spoke with the Smitty and he told me a need a whole new sight. I looked at him like he was insane. Needless to say, he wont be my smith any time soon.

Williams supplies two different size replacement rods in their Fire Sight Assortment Kit. These are 0.060" (1.4mm) diameter and 040" (1mm) diameter rods. http://www.williamsgunsight.com/gunsights/pdf/2013%20Catalog.pdf
Is there anyway you can measure your current rod? If a comparison would help: the rim on CCI .22LR runs about 1mm thick, a penny's rim is about 1.45mm. Brownells sells both sizes at about $3.63 apiece (http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/sight-parts/replacement-sight-inserts/fiber-optic-replacement-rods-prod38863.aspx) (6" length).

Greg

GB,

Thanks again for your help. The rear tubes are smaller than the front so must be .040".

Thank you again. :)

trying to speak with someone at Williams is impossible. They left me a message that said the rear fiber op is .060" but I think he is confused and gave me the front sight size.

Williams got back to me and the front size is 2mm and the rear (.060") is (if I remember correctly) 1.4mm
