...because it didn't stay that way for long. Ruger rocks! This was the easiest stock swap I can imagine. 2 bolts. It took all of about 3 minutes. I was a little nervous because the interwebbers were reporting a few fitment issues but this one dropped right in and actually fits better than the original. Rotary mag drops right out where I had to pry the old one out of the original plastic stock. I'm happy.

Congratulations! I guess my last 3 long guns were black rifles, too... not AR's, though.

10/22 All Weather, MechTech Carbine Conversion Unit, and the Benjamin Trail NP pellet Rifle in .22 cal.

You can check ammo performance for your barrel length, up to 18", at BBTI:

OK... I just saw that it's no longer black!:D

I prefer no maintenance or not-easily-scratched synthetic... as on my polymer Kahrs! I don't think the synthetic rifle stocks are lighter than wood, though.

I didn't check to see how long your barrel is, but up to 18" might give you an idea what handgun-specific ammo is better.

I would imagine that there are companies catering to .357 rifle needs with longer burning powder and higher velocities.

b4uqzme, you saved that rifle from an eternity of ugliness. It looks sweet in the new wood outfit.

A .357 coming out of an 18" barrel has to be astounding. That is some knock down power with some accuracy. I have a .40 carbine that is in the same league as that. pistol caliber rifles are starting to come around, with the price of ammo these days they are looking better every day. I can shoot the center out of a target at 100 yards with my .40 carbine with 180 gr bullets. 165 gr. float around a little. Every time I take it to the range I get folks that want to shoot it. The velocity of the .40 coming out of the barrel is the same as .357 and 10 mm with the carbine. It has devastating results.

Just Right Carbine, built in the state of NY. This carbine is totally abredextriouse, you can have it eject from the left or right side, and all the controls can be moved as well. When these first came out they had some problems, they have since been worked out. I have about 1200 flawless rounds through this one. Uses Glock 22 mags, I only have two 15 round and two 22 round mags for it. The barrel is threaded for your favorite accessory. I have had a lot of fun with this one, good to about 200 yards, beyond that well... I got it for my bug out bag, I carry a S&W Shield .40 Have a .40 Compact, a .40 full size, and an MK .40 Kahr. I like to keep the caliber on one level for the bug out, and you can carry a butt load of .40 ammo.

That's good stuff Dino. Thanks! I was thinking about a .40 carbine awhile back. Considered making a Mech-tech like Wynn's 9mm. But it gets a little pricey unless you got a spare frame lying around. I think the JRC is a good option.

Any Carbine is probably a sub-300 yard gun and better under 200. You are good. Thanks again.

I can change out the caliber to either 9mm or .45 ACP for $250.00. But I am a .40 kind of guy. Perfect compromise to the larger caliber guns. And it uses an AR trigger group, and the gun is all metal except the butt stock. It really is a nice gun for the money, if you can get your hands on one. And made in the USA.

For grins, I just checked online and this wood stock is on 2 month backorder. I must have just snuck in before they sold out. Must be good livin'/good kahrma.
