Or any other MK9 owner (I just specifically know the good Reverend has 1 or 2). My step-father called me the other day and he has finally decided to buy a pistol and become a CCW holder. He asked my advice for a pocket sized 9mm.
I almost instantly told him to look for a CM9. I then told him about the PM9 and the differences between the two, but I told him I would probably choose the CM9 as a defensive gun for the lower price. From what I can tell from CM9 owners on here, most seem extremely pleased with theirs, and the lower cost doesn't seem to mean any lower quality.
I also told him we can go to the range and he can rent some guns to see which he likes best before making a purchase. Since then, I got to thinking about the MK9 since I really love my K9.
Sorry for the long story, but my question is how does the MK9 pocket carry? Seems to be about the same dimensions of the CM9/PM9, actually a tad shorter in length, but how is the extra weight? Is it too heavy for comfortable pocket carry?
If anyone owns a CM9/PM9 and an MK9, I would welcome any feedback you could provide. Thanks

I haven't pocket-carried the MK9 much as I usually carry AIWB, but I have tried it & decided it doesn't work that way for me. I tend to wear baggy pants & the extra weight hangs too much. But IWB I actually prefer my MK9 as I like the feel of the heavier gun when I pull it out.

I carry my MK9 front pocket.................no belt, suspenders(getting old)......it's heavy, but like other things, I got used to it. I also have some Perry suspenders that you wear with a belt. If you have a bit of(ahem) overhang, like I do..........belts can sometimes suck for me.............the Perry's work well if you want to IWB or OWB with a heavy firearm...they attach to your gun belt, and give you plenty of stability. I then can carry OWB in the cold months. I just could never get used to IWB, even trying different holsters and methods, with any firearm.

Thanks guys. I doubt I will find an MK9 rental, but hopefully we can find several different guns he can try and see which he likes best. I like the all steel Kahrs, but you do add a lot of weight. 8 ounces doesn't seem like much, but I would imagine it adds up in the pocket.

I pocket carry mine on a daily basis (jeans and cargo shorts) with no belt or suspenders, and it works just fine. I will admit it took about 2 days to get used to the additional weight, but after that it was smooth sailing.

I have a PM9 and a MK9. Front pocket carry each. The MK9 is heavier, and with wood grips slightly bulkier.
However, FOR ME, the MK9 is much more pleasant to shoot and, FOR ME, much more accurate. For those reasons, I daily carry the MK9 while the PM9 sits in the safe waiting to be sold. The only thing I like about my PM9 is its light weight and easy concealability. I carry a handgun for protection, not how it feels in my pocket.
Bottom line, FOR ME, the MK9 wins hands down.
@SGT5711 - sent you a PM.

I like your FOR ME point, Oz ... as that is what it all comes down to in the end. Which is one thing I really appreciate about KahrTalk ... most people here are comfortable with who they are and how they do things ... they don't have a desperate need for everybody else to think and be just like them.

I don't have an MK9, but I do have the MK40. I really like the pistol, but in my opinion, it's too heavy for pocket carry, except in a sturdy jacket pocket.

I know this line is probably dead, butI just bought an MK9 a couple of weeks ago, and I Inside carry Mex. style and front pocket carry In a small suede pouch that stabilizes it
I occasionally pocket carry my MK9 using an Uncle Mike's soft pocket holster. The weight causes the feel of a lot of sagging although that doesn't seem to be visually apparent (unless you know what you're looking for). Most don't notice a thing.
But the best method of carrying the MK9 for me is in a JAK slide holster. The belt goes outside the holster, the holster is between the belt and the britches. A very "secure feeling" method and with the belt (either an Aker B21 or Galls new 5.11) snugged up there's no sag or feeling of such.

The MK's are great guns. I have an MK40, I think the MK's are to heavy for pocket carry but great for an IWB HOLSTER.

I am new to kahrs but so far the way the mk9 shoots over other small guns, I will deal with the added weight in the pocket.

I'm with you, speshl ... I started out with a CM9, but I'm pretty sure all-metal will be my preference in the future.
