I found this at Dead Eye Gun & Pawn Shop in Sparta, MO, on Armslist a little over a week ago; and today I went to pick it up at Newington Gun Exchange here in CT. I haven't had a chance to test fire it yet, but I have cleaned it all up and I must say I like it. I like the feel and the size and my guess is I'll like shooting it. I'll have to check with Kahr to find out exactly when it was made as the "sticky" doesn't have the serial number listed. My guess is that it was probably made around 2003, but I'll have to wait and see. I think I'm beginning to get the hang of how to become a gun nut ... or at least a Kahr nut.

Minor observation.....I'm going to have to get some black screws like in the grips. Do you know if the slide came black or was blacked? Hmmmm even the mag release is black.

The E9 has a carbon steel slide, thus the finish.
Nice find RevRay, enjoy the "new' Kahr.

itmight not be as old asone thinkseither, as the frame is scalloped and the early E9 the frame was not scalloped. Very nice kahr, no matter what age it is. This wiuld also be an indicatio that the trigger bar spring is like the springswe see today and not the really early model kahr E9 springs which are no long even available. I thiught I had read awhile back that kahr put out some of these carbon steel slides versions not to long ago. I would think if u eamial Jay at kahr he will tell you when it was born to. I would aslo think it has the old style dovetails for sights to. If it has the dimple on the bottom of the slide at the back ur again good to go

The E9 has an old style rear dovetail, but no dovetail for the front sight. They are pinned, similar to the newer "C" series of Kahrs.

I just checked those details ... it has the dovetail rear, pinned front, and no dimple. The serial number "sticky" shows that there were some E9's with black slides made back around 1997 with AM #'s, but mine has an AY #, which would suggest sometime after 2003.

I would think this gun was made around early 2003, every A R and then A S and then at is a 1000 guns production. Darn nice peace . U could put a Big dot on that with ease as I think they make a bog dot for pinned sight kahrs now.

The E9 was the gun that made me discover Kahr. Before then, I had never heard of them. LGS had one and it fit my hand like it was custom made. Bought it for my son for his college graduation. Then promptly purchased a K9 and then a T9 which I carry daily. Gotta love those Kahrs.

I took my E9 out to the range for a little while this morning. I love it just like I do my MK9. It's a very smooth feeling and firing gun. I only fired off six clips as I didn't have a lot of time, but it was enough to give me a good sense of how I like my new-to-me purchase. I tried several different breeds, including reloads, with only one little hiccup with a reload. I definitely need to brighten up the front sight as I did have a little bit of trouble seeing it clearly. That's what probably attributed to my six shot patterns. One of them was fantastic (blowing out the center of the target), but the other five mags tended to be more of a 4-5 inch circle. I may be in and out in the next couple of weeks as I'll be on vacation which means I'm supposed to be on the computer less ... that's my wife's theory anyway.

alittle dab of white finner nail polish will brighten it up perfectly. I did that on my Ruger MK11 and it sure looks good in daylight.. I would think bein u have some ccw kahrs, that aybe spending money o a nite sight for this gun would be a waste as more than likely ur not gonna carry it. Just sayin. It certainly would be an easy front sight to change though and IMO I would leave the rear site just where it is at to..

Just traded for an E-9 yesterday. S/N AWO3XX. I emailed Jay at Kahr and he said the pistol was made in July 1998. Mine has the hard plastic grips and looks like a parkerized finish. I will be trying it out today or tomorrow. This will be my 2nd Kahr. If it is as reliable as my CM9, I feel I have another jewel of a pistol. Don't see an option to attach a pic or I would.

I think you need 30 posts to be able to post pictures. So do post a pic as soon as you do.

Thanks RevRay, will post the pics as soon as I can. Hit the range with the E-9. Gun is tight and 100% reliable with everything I ran through it. It is taking me a bit to get used to the trigger which surprised me as I am a double action wheel gunner at heart. I could still keep all rounds towards the center of a piece of printer paper which is chest size so I will keep practicing to shoot as well as the gun will shoot.

An all-black one ... good for you. Although I don't own an all-black pistol yet, I am very partial to them. In fact, I ended up with the Duo Tone E9 because I lost out on an all-black K9 on Gunbroker the week before. I'm also partial to the polished shiny look too. What can I say ... I like them all.

I like the two Kahrs that I have. The E9 does not have the trigger that my CM9 has. Kind of gritty towards the end of the travel. I might call Kahr and see if there is something I can upgrade to eliminate the crunch:).

alot pof moving parts in the trigger crap, why not just take the slide off and take the striker out of the gun and completly clean that channel. It could have crude build up in thgere causing that also, and then just smooth up that striker itself with some 600+ grit paper, U might surprise yourself by doing this. Kahr will not do much for what ur asking, let alone would it be worth the cost to send it b ack to them . Pull the right side grip off and look at that trigger bar and notice how that little spring wraps around that trigger bar. This is a culprit of gritty trigger, some gun grease in that area will do wonders and if ur ambitious u can smooth just that short area out where the spring rides along that trigger bar. My bet is that is where ur gritty feel is at to. Ur not gonna hurt a damn thing either.:amflag:

Thanks Jocko, I will try what you have suggested. I didn't know if Kahr may have changed the triggers at a later time to eliminate that situation

naw thats IMO not ur issue. Who knows maybe to this gun being old might not have been shot much either to smooth things out, alittle dab of gun grease here and there never hurt a damn thing. I do think I would start with the striker channel first. Get it spiffy clean and then use thaqt clean out hole on the bottom of the slide to keep it that way. Right now u have no clue if it is clean or full of Hillary Clinton (crap).
check the kahr tech section thereis a great tutorial on how to take the slide down. It is a no brainer and some damn good tips are given to make it easier.. don't take it apart where carpet is located as sometimes things fly. Many takje the slide down inside a nice clear plastic bag. Just sayin

http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss93/jphillip/013.jpgThis is a picture of a 1996 or 1997 E9 it has dovetail front and rear night sights. It also has a screw that is under the slide lever which is factory but not sure what its intended function was. Shoots great .http://http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss93/jphillip/013.jpg

That's an interesting Kahr. Early, has the screw, marked E9, all black and has a front dovetail. Is the front grip strap checkered? I wonder if it's been owner modified.

What I so ineloquently said, but meant to say was, that pistol is, except for the rare but recognized odd screw, a real oddball Kahr E9. I'm guessing a previous owner had the front dovetail and checkering added. the grip screws look very nice... they should be the standard on all Kahrs. The grips look new, little wear. Maybe it was a safe queen. Nice looking gun.

59allstate, does your E9 have the poly rifled barrel? The one I have does. I "thought" the E series had conventional rifling like the CM and CW series.
