The website requires you to set up an account. No thanks got too many already. Found it on another site. I am no conspiracy/tin foil hatter, we already have way to many on this site, but I wonder if the homeowner set this up and the officer and the homeowner are in cahoots?

Boy oh boy.......Did you read the write in comments on down the page? I sure think more of my LEO's than that crowd does. I could understand a few writers negative comments but most of them were negative. Maybe I'm too old school but the few I've met are pretty nice folks. Surely the good outnumber the bad?

I am from Western New York and I am a member of New York Firearms. I have been watching that thread since the first sign was stolen. All the guys on the forum chipped in and bought him the trail cam that the officer was caught on. Needless to say we were all shocked when we finally caught him. We all figured it was some idiot neighbor, not the police. Keep in mind that this was I believe the fifth time the sign was stolen, we were all chompin at the bit to find out who it was. At this point all the guys are chipping in to get a land survey done to find out the exact location of the property lines and to help with whatever legal bills may arise. Even if nothing comes out of this legally we are all excited to get this out there for everybody to see. Hopefully people will think twice about destroying other peoples property, especially the police. This guy needs to learn just because he has a badge does not mean he can go about things this way.

if it is a code enforcement issue because of the right away v. private property that is the wrong way to go about it. if this was thievery where criminal charges can come about or at the very least the cop could get fired I doubt he was in cahoots with anybody.

Well, if the sign was in the public right of way, maybe they don't allow signs, but they should tell him that, not just take the sign. I think in the city, that you have to have signs behind the sidewalk, or they are on the cities right of way. Plus that way people have to ask if they can place a sign in your yard. I think realtors, and people having an garage or estate sale or something are the only ones allowed to put signs on the right of way.
If he's just doing it because he's anti-gun, then he should be disciplined.

I don't see how his actions disgrace anyone but himself if he is guilty of what he's accused of anymore than the actions of the Navy Yard shooter disgraces all former service men. All police aren't responsible for the actions of one bad cop.
Cop collecting firewood for the upcoming hard winter... :hippie:

The truth of the matter is like muggsy said he only shames himself if it is not staged. Just because it is being retold again and again DOES NOT indicate truthfulness. A lie told often enough gains believability.

Letters to editor of today's paper, see below, is a better story. There are always exceptions but I like to think this is the norm.
Thanks, police
As one of the people who had to “shelter in place” on Friday because a neighbor decided to barricade himself in his house (Sept. 22 Local & State), I wanted to thank the wonderful Wichita police officers and SWAT members for a job well done. I don’t know any of their names, but they were courteous and considerate during the nine-hour-plus ordeal.
I’m sure my husband was not the first person to be turned away when he returned from work, but an officer calmly explained that it simply wasn’t safe for him to enter the area. The officer was even nice enough to ask his superior if I could leave, but given my proximity to the standoff, that wasn’t possible.
Finally, as startling as it was to find two very well-armed SWAT guys at my back door politely requesting the use of my ladder to access a nearby roof, it did make me feel safer. And double thanks to whoever returned the ladder and made sure my back gates were closed so my dog wouldn’t wander off. It was probably after midnight, and everyone must have been tired by then.
So to all the law-enforcement personnel involved: Thank you.

We all know there are good cops and bad cops.
With the huge growth in video technology, more of the bad ones will be exposed. But unfortunately, too many people are taking the attitude that all cops are bad, or at the very least covering up for them.
I see this every day on different forums. In fact I have read plenty of extreme hatred for all LEOs, particularly from young people. The MSM doesn't help much sometimes when they loudly trumpet the malfeasance by an officer, on duty or off.
Am not saying bad cop behavior should be glossed over, but it doesn't have to be exaggerated.
Pretty sad, really.

one thing many insecure people fail to see when they bash cops who are arrested for breaking the law is, it was other cops who arrested them. for some reason those cops get no praise.

And this only fans the flame of the us versus them thin blue line mentality. It's a thankless job and one of the few where you can do everything right, make no mistakes and still get fired.
My hats off to em. There are bad one's for sure and there are many more good ones. The system being what it is and the large number of corrupt upper level management officials it's a tough spot for the good line officer.
Tough to police your own when the brass doesn't back ya. Course there is alot of good brass management and alot of bad too.

As a percentage more men of the cloth will dishonor their profession than will LEO's.
