Sight pusher or vise, be careful where and how you tighten them down on the slide. This applies to almost any slide (1911s in particular, to the rear of the thumb safety cut).
Just saw this on another forum:

I would fear a vise far more than any hand held site pusher. I guess #1 thing though is COMMON SENSE..

common sense isn't all that common it seems...

Some people can f-up an anvil with a rubber mallet. Anyone with ten thumbs and no common sense should never work on a gun, except possibly Bawanna. :)

Recently had gunsmith bend new front sight and break tritium vial during installation on PM 40 without even noticing it. Some sight pushers bear on the blade rather than the base. I replaced it myself with hammer and aluminum drift filed to fit Kahr sight bases and dovetails from Dawson Precision. You can make one easily form bar stock. Hardest part was getting broken one out as apparently no fitting was done. Just because it's made for your gun doesn't mean it fits. It's neither difficult nor will it damage night sights to drift them in when done right. Using a sight pusher, you can stuff a sight whose base is too big into the slot in the gun and not even feel it. With hammer and drift, you'll know when more fitting is needed. Wooden cheeks in vise to protect slide. Custom vise cheeks need to be made for slides with anything other than vertical, parallel sides.

I was hoping for a response from someone with just a modicum of intelligence. I guess my hopes were realized. :)
