Off the mini blinds, 2 walls, and under the refrigerator, took me an hour and much concern that I had rendered my new purchase a brick, to find it. :spider:

Any other genuine surprises I can expect while breaking down to clean?:D

If we told ya it wouldn't be a surprise no more would it?

Now if you strip the slide to clean the striker tunnel and stuff, you might want to stuff a towel under the refrigerator, save some time.

It's not that bad. If you decide to do that there's a thread here and of course lots of help if you need it.

Yeah, I think I'll keep that adventure for another day. I'll just spray some cleaner in there for now.

Just thought everyone could use a good laugh. What is a good defensive load that functions well?

Welcome!

That's a good one. Here's a similar story but it entails a guide rod & spring assembly.
It's worth the read.

Did this seriously just happen. Ok, i have a gen4 glock 17, and in the past iv had a lot of luck with SS guide rod's in my guns. I just replace it because i like the quality of the parts. I just received a LWD SS guide rod with spring all ready enclosed on it and a G4 adapter. I'v never used the adapter before and thought it just slid right in but apparently you have to remove the screw on the guide rod and place the adapter on the rod and then put the screw back on. So i spent about a half hour trying to find an allen key that will take this screw off then i try to actually figure out how to get enough leverage to unscrew the darn thing because the spring just wanted to spin in my hand. I ended up pushing the spring down enough, to pinch the rod with my fingers and unscrew it.

I'm doing this while sitting on the carpet in the middle of the living room and I was sort of having a tough time and getting frustrated so i started getting sloppy. I finally got the screw to come off, i have the spring face down in the carpet when my fingers slip. The SS guide rod was immediately ejected out and an instant later i hear smash. It became apparent that the kamikaze guide rod had just took entry though a pane of glass in the middle of my china cabinet. All i could do was sit there for a second stunned. It's kind of funny because my initial reaction was, I hope i didn't break my new part in half. But rest assured it's ok.

My fingers are a little sore from wrestling with this thing but i got it all set up and it looks good. The assembly fits nice and snug in there. Slide comes back nice and smooth. Don't really have any doubts that it will perform well.

Lesson learned from this story is i'll probably wear a hockey mask next time i'm messing with spring assemblies.

Laugh #2, Kahr Lessons Learned - HhhhmmmHmmmm repeat after me, Thou shalt not let thy pinky finger dangle too close to the ejection port whilst racking the slide.

Dirty Harry, that's a good one. I'm just glad I didn't break anything in the process. Fortunately the blinds were closed.

With what they said, taking striker out wear some safety glasses. I nearly lost a eye installing the backplate. Hit me between eyelid and eyebrow. Enjoy your new piece!!

AND WELCOME! We are a close family around these parts.

I also have good luck with ss guide rods and install them in all of my firearms...................piece of mind, and maybe some noticeable smoothing out of recoil, maybe................

I will say this one thing ... don't think that just because you do everything right it still won't happen.
