I had one of the original P380s (RA serial number) and it would have all kinds of problems after 30 rounds. I guess when it would get a little dirty, it just wouldn't function. I owned it for a couple years and then finally dumped it a month ago. I did buy it used so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.
I really wanted a small pocket carry that would disappear when I wore my work clothes. My PM9 was not quite that gun. I kept wanting smaller.
Then, I kept reading about people having good luck with the new P380s (RD SN) I decided to buy one with night sights and give it another 'shot.' I am so glad I did. I just shot 225 rounds and not a single hiccup! The more I shot it, the more I was grinning from ear to ear! I did not want to stop.
I also shot this one so much better. After the first 100 rounds of just trying to break it in, I started going for tighter groups and distance. I was so impressed.
I am so glad I gave the P380 a second chance.

Excellent Phil, glad that worked out well for ya.
Sounds like they got the bugs all worked out of the 380's. Did have a few glitches in the early days.

I hope to have the same luck with my "new" P380. My "old" P380 was manufactured in March 2010 and had a serial # of RB66XX. I really loved this gun, but at about 400 rounds, I started getting light strikes (I had a few during break-in) and then it would FTRB after every round. I e-mailed Jay thinking maybe it was just the recoil springs. He immediately sent me a pre-paid shipping label to send it back to the factory. They received it on 08/16/13.
After a month, I called Kahr to check the status and spoke to Ian. He spoke with the Senior Gunsmith and reported it had just been sent to final testing and should be back soon.
Last Friday, I received a phone call from Jeff at Kahr. He advised he found a crack in my frame. He said it was hard to find, but this was what was causing my problems. Jeff said it was because of weak polymer, and they had some problems with this in early models. He assured me the new frame would be good to go. Since it is a new frame, it is also a new serial # RDXXXX. I had to ship it to my FFL, and he said it would ship by yesterday at the latest. I hope to have it back in my hands today. Hopefully it comes back and is the gun I always thought it was.
Thankfully I had my flawless K9 to keep me company while the P380 was away. I absolutely love my K9, but there are times I would like to carry something smaller and lighter. So far, I am 100% impressed with Kahr service and I hope to send them a nice note to thank them for their hard work.

I refer to my P380 as my constant companion. It is always by my side. Glad to hear that yours is becoming your best friend. Both my CM9 and P380 give flawless performance.

I just picked up my new P380. Right now the only thing I've done is take it out of the box.
I called Kahr and found that this P380, serial number RD32XX, was made in August of 2013.
Just a little info for you.

I'm waitin' for the CW380 to replace my LCP.
I think mouseguns are kinda neat & cool.
Might even order a boot grip for my little bitty North American Mini-magnum. Can't grasp that tiny bird's head grip too well, even with my small hands.

That new P380 was dirty! It's clean now. It's off to Jocko's prep thread and doing a little polishing and slide racking.
I called Kahr about the slide stop spring screw and the side plate screw on the P380. They are not torx t5 heads. The heads are a torx 5IP which is supposed to have an "improved" head profile.

I am looking at a P380 with a serial number of SA 6010. Any idea if this is a new manufacture?
Thanks

My fairly new P380 has a RC#### number. It also has a mag disc and Loaded chamber indicater. I live in CT but it's a MA and CA compliant gun but got a good deal at $600 even and it came with Trijicon nite sites so I went for it. It's been flawless through 500 rounds with several different FMJ and JHP rounds. Any idea when it might have been produced?
