Had my E9 out at the range today. Pulled the trigger and felt a gust of wind on my hand, and a different sound to the shot. I had a case fail. Blew out the extractor and that was the only damage. Came home and took the pistol down. Checked it under illuminated magnification and could find no other damage. Called Ian at tech support and asked his advise. Ordered a new extractor, spring, and front pin. I expect to have it back at the range in a few days like nothing ever happened. Those all steel Kahrs can take some punishment. I had a case separation in a Ruger P85 a bunch of years back and Ruger replaced the gun because the frame cracked.
I hope I never get to test my CM9 that way.

Reload or factory ammo? If it was reloaded ammo you might want to back off on the weight of the powder charge a bit.

Reload Muggsy. Same load I have been shooting in all of my 9mms for about 30 years. 4gr Red Dot with a 125gr lead bullet. Probably a case that has been reloaded one too many times.

Wow, sorry to here about the gun, but glad that you didn't get hurt.
I didn't think Kahr would cover a problem from a reload?

I think he ordered replacement parts. No warranty.
Hopefully an easy fix and back on that track. They are tough.

Yep, no free parts, but I am not complaining. The gun was made in 1998 and by the looks of it has been shot a lot. I don't mind putting a few bucks into it to keep it going.
It has some nice "character" to it and hopefully it will have a lot more character when I am done with it.

1998 is not old for a great gun!
I have a 27 year old Sig 226 that has never had a malfunction! It was my only handgun for a long long time! My PM 9 has become just as reliable, and is easier to carry year round.

Maybe we need a thread called "Kahrs with Character". Not sure which forum it should be in, but honest wear looks good on a gun to me.
