I got the parts back from being Cerakoted today. I totally forgot about having the extractor and slide back plate done. I had the slide, barrel, trigger and slide stop lever done. The satin black matches pretty good. It still doesn't look bad.
My sights should be here from Dawson tomorrow.
I think I'm going to try a set of the rubber Talon grips.

My first though was major goof forgetting the back plate but seeing the picture I think it looks great as is. I'd leave it that way myself.
Might be kind of out of place and many wouldn't like it but I do very much.

No I couldn't. I paid $399 out the door for the gun. The cerakoting was$90. Where am I going to get a black PM9 for under $500?

Your CM looks good. I would have got the back plate done too. Probably because I am used to how my all black PM40 looks. Hope that finish wears as good as the PM. (I'd be a little concerned about how the barrel wears.) Looks nice. Dawson's will be another good upgrade...as will the Talons. What does that take the new price to? It will be a well modified CM when you are finished. If my night sights ever start failing me, I will go to Dawson sights on my PM.

And some of us like the "boring" C style slide better.
The gun looks good. I wouldn't care about the extractor but would have to get the plate done.
I would get my cw9 done but as a carry gun the stainless will hold up better.

personally IMO the back plate just adds alittle clas to this gun along with the extractor staying like it looks to. Just my 21 cents on this

Sights look great. I've been thinking seriously about some Dawson sights on my CW45. How was the installation on the rear? Did it require much fitting? Thanks.

A little filing, not much. Installation was fairly easy.
If the slide wasn't coated I might not of had to file at all.

So true...
Gets me is how one person will pay extra to get a duo-tone and another to get a mono-tone. Guess, as the saying goes, there is no disputing taste.

Did not know this. Thanks for sharing. It will be interesting to see how that finish on the barrel wears. Based on the test results, there should be no signs of wear for many thousands of rounds.
By the way, I love the front sight. I would have gone with the flat black rear sight and fiber optic front, but that's just me. You've done a good job to trick that CM up. Let's see her finished off with the CTL and black pack plate.
Good job!

I think it will hold up well with minimal signs of wear. It will be a little bit before I get the laser. Hopefully sooner then later.

My thought is that the silver plate matches the recoil assembly up front, giving it a matched front to back thing goin on there. I'd leave it. Looks great.

Thanks! I ended up spraying it with some satin black paint. It will have to do for now. I figure that spot doesn't get much contact with anything so it should hold up for a while.

105
I shot the gun today to make sure it still funtioned properly. I had 2 nose dives on the second round with the same mag. the gun is definitely more accurate then it was with the stock sights.
I'm very happy with the Dawson sights.

forgot to mention, when I got my pm40 back when it was kg coated it took some work before it was broken in again. Just about 50 rounds to wear the slide where it needs to be worn. Lube it up pretty good also for the range and that helped me. I hate the magazine issues with my kahrs but with some work they feed fairly well. I would recommend looking at some woolf springs to replace the factory ones!

I agree. I am in the same position. I purchased my PM40 with night sights on it. I have Dawson's on two other handguns. They are amazing. Night sights are not all they are cracked up to be, but they work just fine. The Dawsons improve accuracy and speed. I've had great luck with them and if/when my night sights go bad, I'll be putting Dawson front sights on, with flat black rear Dawson sight. The red or green front sight really picks up fast in the flat black rear sight.
Dirty Harry,
When you get a chance, can you show everyone a photo of how that front sight's fiber is protected and cradled in the metal of the sight. I take it that you purchased these sights for carry? Are you at all concerned about the fiber breaking while carrying? Thanks.
Dirty Harry
10-05-2013, 03:46 PM
It is a pocket carry gun. Being carried in a soft holster not a kydex one.
I'm not really worried. If the fiber optic rod breaks the metal holder can still be used as a plain iron sight. Plus I will be getting the laser guard for it.
Here are the pictures. I also took pictures of the Tru-Glo TFO sights on my Glock 23. The Tru-Glo ones are definitely more protected and a bit more stout.
Sorry the first picture is blurry.

Thanks Dirty Harry. Good photos. They clearly show how well supported the Dawson fiber is on their sights...as are the Glock's Truglo. I agree that the metal frame on the front sight functions even if the fiber is bad. Have you ever had a fiber break? Have you ever changed one out? Based on the instructions, it sounds like a simple change out on the Dawson's. So far, I have not had a fiber go bad on any of my guns (including my rifle sights - TC). They can get damaged, but on a well made fiber optic sight that is designed to protect the fiber, they are very, very rugged and reliable ...even for carry.

IMO onehas to be pretty hard on a gun to break the fiberoptic. They ain'tglass u know. they are bendable. certainly not as durable as standard sights but they do different things to. For me I like the fiber optic sights but I also like my xs big dots just as well.
My Dawson fiber optics on my G19 are awesome..
If you are going to order a slide plate, why not order a black one?

Replacing a fiber optic is so easy that even I, with ten thumbs, can do it. You melt one end of the fiber optic rod to form a bead, cut the fiber optic rod 1/8" longer than the sight, insert the fiber optic rod into the sight and melt the other end to form a bead. Old eyes see green better than red, so I changed mine out on my Dawson front sight. All that it took was a flick my Bic.
