Walked into Academy Sports today to pick up a few items for a canoe/camping trip. Noticed a sign on the door stating that legal permit holders WERE allowed to carry in their store. And it's a great store too. They even have 9 mil in stock. Unlike the fence straddling Starsucks, these guys aren't afraid to post their position on the matter.

Like the Academy here. Gander Mountain is also a gun friendly place.

At the Cabela's store here there is an employee in the lobby that will take your gun and deliver it to Gun Department if you want it in the store for some reason, say to fit a holster for instance or if the weapon is not needed within the store they hold it at the door in a safe box. I've not asked about CC in the store but would like to think it's acceptable.

Cabelas is the same way here. On the bottom of the sign it says if you have a cpl to carry on as long as you keep it concealed.

We have a guy in the lobby too. He's there like you say if you want to fit a holster or return a gun, etc.
If your not doing anything with your gun like that you just walk on by.

I always try very hard not to see those "no guns allowed" signs and I'm successful the majority of the time. I do, however, never fail to the the "guns welcome" signs and they always give me that warm fuzzy feeling. Damn it, I promised never again to put those two words into a sentence again. (I & do.) They can get you into a lot of trouble. :)

My eyes aren't what they used to be...............funny, if they don't have the sign in REALLY BIG LETTERS, I seem to miss it every time. In my area, I like the policy of the Gander and Cabela's..........problem is, most of the employee's don't know squat about the firearms they are selling.

Here in Texas the state law for compliance signs is very specific - we have the official "30.06" sign and the "51%" sign (for bars).
If the business puts up signs that do not precisely follow the state guidelines, then we can ignore them.
Here are the legal signs and examples of the "ignorable" types:
