View Full Version : Trading my CM9 for a CW9

Well I've had enough. When I first purchased my CM9 I had a heck of time hitting anything with it. Somewhere around the first several trips to the range, I bumped into a guy with a CW9 and I was shocked how good I could shoot his CW9. Well I persevered and after thousands of round down the range I got pretty decent with the CM9. This weekend I bumped into that CW9 guy again and I'm still much better with his gun than mine. For some reason I have to take my time and concentrate way too much with my CM9 in order to hit anything. With the CW9, I just pick it up and shoot. Lucky for me, he really wanted a CM9 and he is wanting to trade. So within a few days I'm going to be a new CW9 owner.

sounds like a good trade for both of you. I've had a CW9 for about three years and am completely satisfied with it. When I finally bought a CM9 for those times a smaller carry gun was more appropriate, I found I just couldn't shoot it as well as other small carry guns I have. I ended up selling the CM9 to a friend that really wanted it. My CW9 with trij nite sites will stay for the foreseeable future.

A very interesting discussion about which pistol CM9 or CW9. My first Kahr purchase was a CW9. Later when the CM9 was introduced I thought if the CW9 is great then the CM9 should be over the top. Well it turns out I can not shoot a pistol very well with my pinkie dangling. So when I bought a spare 6 round magazine for the CM9, I also purchased two Pierce extensions. That helped, but then the CM9 grip was almost the same length as my CW9. I just plain like the feel and size, proportions of the CW9 better! I carry the CW9 and the CM9 sits alone in the safe most of the time. However if anything goes south on the CW9 I have a great backup pistol while the CW9 is getting well!

bigger gun should shoot and feelbetter,no doubt about that. There is a trade off. The cw9 is just not really a pocket gun the cm9 is IF THAT IS YOUR DESIRED CARRY. If ur a waste bandcarrier, then I would say yup cw9 trumps cm9 for that position.
The cw9 is the cm9 of the P9 kahrs and the PM9 kahrs, ur not givin up alot but ur getting a big dollar savings....

I got the extended one round mag for my PM9 and that makes the grip basically the same length as my CW9 but dang it, I shoot my CW9 better!
I replaced the sights on my CW9 with Trijicons but my CM9 has a Crimson Trace laser on it and I STILL shoot the CW9 better!&@$?!!!

I did the same thing, with the P series. My first Kahr hankering was for the P380, wanted something pocketable, but couldn't get excited about the caliber for the obvious reasons. So I decided to pick up a PM9 at the time, years and years back. Nice gun, shot well, nary a problem w/ it. But ultimately, same story, after hundreds and hundreds of rounds, just wasn't getting any better and unhappy w/ my ability to shoot it well. Plenty of people do, so I knew it wasn't the gun, it was me. Anyway, traded it for a P9 and I was much happier. That being said, since then I bought a TP9 and my P9 hasn't left the safe in over a year now.
I think you'll really like the CW. I personally think it's the perfect balance of CCW and shooting comfort.

Well I took possession of the CW9 and already had it to the range twice. Conclusion - I should have gotten this to start with. It's so darn easy to shoot. When I think of the thousands of rounds down the range with the CM9 trying to get reasonable proficient, I could scream. The CM9 is a great gun, just not for me.

I went the other way. I love the CM9. I agree that the CW9 is a great shooter! Enjoy!

I shoot the CW9 better than the CM9,but I carry the CM9 daily. The CW9 is in the back of the safe now.
I think about getting rid of it,then I take it out back for a few mag dumps and I change my mind again.
