I was disappointed he didn't take a few out with his kukri. Do they still carry them?
I guess they do. One of em is in trouble for taking the head of one so they could identify if they got the right one or not. Muslims were all raising hell about it, like they never chop a head off. I hope they just got him out of there to ease the tension, and not to punish him. Command needed to know if they got the right guy, and the squad was under attack and didn't have time or resources to pack the whole body back. So one of them just chopped his head off with his kukri and brought it back to be ID'ed. The British Army is saying that it is appalled at the action, and there was no glory in it, more of a sense of shame. blah blah blah. Bunch of pansies. He wasn't doing it for glory, but so they could ID the guy. Maybe it just wasn't a Kodak moment.

I need to look into the history of it more....but I've heard that Gurkhas are some ****** dudes. Maybe stuff like this is where that rep came from.

Gurkas are not to be trifled with. They still carry Kukris. Here's a link to a story of one that used it to take out a couple infiltrators.

During the Falklands War, a plan was developed to deploy Gurkha commandos in order to disrupt Argentine forces at the airport. They were asked what they thought about an airdrop onto the beach. They agreed as long as they could land in the surf, and the plane was no more than 200 feet off the deck. When informed they'd be using parachutes they were incredulous!
And of course the Argintines crided "Foul!, no fair sending in the Gurkhas!"
BTW, they used the chutes and were very successful.

Damn good thing they didn't have Gurka's in 1776.
Good story. Interesting rat patch on his shoulder.
I went back and Googled it evidently they were called Desert Rats in the Gulf War. There are different variations of it for different units.
