Below is a link to a story which was reported by the Kansas City Star this past weekend. It really makes my blood boil. Since this article has been released, the case is now garnering national and international attention. Missouri officials are starting to call for further investigation. Updates to the story are also available at the KC Star. Hopefully some sort of justice will eventually prevail.

I doubt justice will prevail here. Rural/small town mentality, prominent family, political connections etc.

There is no such thing as having consensual sex with a 14 year old. In Ohio it's called statutory rape.

Not true....unless one of the parties are older by however much state law dictates.

That's an awful shame for that town, which is (or was) a nice place. Even more awful for that poor girl, her friend, and the family.
My Dad's family was from a little nearby town and a number of my relatives are buried in Maryville. Dads name is on the WWII monument in the courthouse square.
Back in the '40s & '50s during the summers we would go to the Catholic church on Sundays and afterwards stop by the drugstore fountain on the corner for cherry Cokes.

In that case it's contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
