I'm considering polishing my cw9 barrel. I don't wan't to polish the slide because its just to much bling for me. I'm looking for tips on the best way to do the barrel. I have a bench grinder with buffer wheel on it. I was thinking about doing the guide rod as well, figure it would give it a little smoother action and easier cleaning.

Polishing tips would be greatly appreciated. Also would like your input on how it would look or if you have done it. Thanks guys and gals.

dremelwith a nice cotton squab tip and some flitz will do it nicely. Flitz itself will also do it, ur grinder with buffer and some flitz will do as well, U not gonna hauyrt a damn thing... IO spray my guide rod with Remington Dri Slide, never runs and it does lubricate. Ot realy much needed on the guide rod but no doubt smooth is j"good". imo LEAVE THE SLIDE ALONE, LOOKS GOOD THE WAY IT IS.

GO FOR IT.

Roger that Jocko. Slides look fine just the way they are in my opinion too.

The barrel polishes up quite easy really. A little buffing compound on your bench grinder polishing wheel will make short work of it.

The slide is an entirely different animal, it's tough. The barrel your almost just knocking off the outside layer of finish and get a mirror polish with very little effort.

I did mine on a bench grinder/ buffing wheel.
The nickel finish polishes up super fast. You could start with rouge/red then use the white to finish it off.
I did my guide rod as well but it could use some more.
The polish on the barrel won't last unless you polish the inside of the slide as well. The first time I used mine the barrel was scuffed up pretty good.

After shooting it

I wouldn't suggest polishing multiple times. You will burn though the nickel finish.

My barrel is working and looking fine as it came. I think I will leave it alone. I think I will leave the entire gun alone. I'll just keep carrying, shooting, cleaning and fondling her the way she is. Is this polishing thing a new fad or something? Kind of like the gold teeth thing?

I always put a little grease on both of those locations. Most likely won't prevent the marks but will help some with the contact points.

My PM45 doesn't get those marks nearly as bad for some reason. Dumb luck for me perhaps.

I just use some Mothers mag polish on a green scrub pad and do it by hand when I clean. Over time it has gotten pretty shiny and I figure there is less chance of burning thru the nickel. Plus I keep those rub marks at bay.

I really like a shiny barrel especially the muzzle end peeking out. But I too prefer the slide left alone. I even prefer the standard slide to the Elites (on the Ks and MKs).

I'm not too fond of gold teeth. Got a small fortune invested in porcelain fillings and crowns. To each his own. :D

Gary, yer my kinda guy. If' it ain't broke don't fix it. Just shoot the fokker like you stole it. ( Where have I heard that before?) :)

Not needed, but mothers mag or flitz and a dremmel with felt polishing wheel at low speed would do it.
