Very nice. I've been thinking of doing mine. It could use a clean up as wear rubbings a sharp contrast. Doesn't hurt it obviously but what the hell.....it won't hurt.

Jocko's too busy "polishing his barrel" to comment right now.

I tried to do that for my MK9, but it didn't turn out that nice.

I think it looks awesome. I can see myself in the shine, wait.....is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Nice job! Care to add details? What tools did you use? I would like to do this but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I did my mk40 with Liquid Flitz & a cotton cloth. It sratches up a little but after I clean the gun I do the barrel again. It only takes 30 seconds to remove the scratches until I shoot it again.

Rev Ray?
What happened when you polished? Did you ever get it polished. This is on your new MK with the dark slide?

No problem!!
I started out just cleaning the barrel. I bought some Blue Magic polishing cream I bought at O'Reillys. Couldn't find Flitz locally. I used a bench grinder with a buffing wheel, turned up about halfway. Took probably 10minutes at the most. So simple, was surprised on the ease of it.
Still thinking about doing the guide rod. Probably won't do the tip, but figure it would make it smoother and easier to clean.

I did mine a few months and it seems to be holding up pretty good. I love the way yours looks!

Did using the bench grinder round any important sharp edges?

A buffing wheel on a bench grinder shouldn't round anything of significance.
I always remind myself sparks = grinding. No sparks = polishing on any kind of power tool.

No, didn't use a lot of pressure. Plus brand new wheel with lots of polishing gel.

I just finished mine, did it with some Mothers Mag Wheel polish, a couple rags, and a vice. Took about 30 minutes and came out awesome. No power tools needed.
