Is there a good way to clean the firing pin channel (and the pin) without doing a complete slide disassembly? Or is that the only way to really clean good in there?

Does anyone here do anything during a standard field strip cleaning that addresses the firing pin channel? I would think that things could get pretty dirty in there.

Sorry...meant striker, not firing pin.

If you check out jocko's weapon prep, he recommends sticking the straw connected to a can of gunscrubber in that little hole and blasting away. Check it out in the Kahr New Weapon prep section.

I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Hose it down let it dry and lube it up. I do a full slide break down about ever 500 rounds.

Don't lube the striker channel...

Don't lube the striker channel...

I'm talking a regular lube job NOT the striker channel. Brake cleaner strips it of all lube.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'd do a detail strip of the slide and give the striker channel a good manual cleaning using a good solvent. In that way you'll know for sure that the channel is clean. You'll also get acquainted with the internals of the slide. After that initial cleaning go with the non-chlorinated break cleaner for subsequent cleanings after range trips. I detail strip and clean and thoroughly inspect the slide annually.

Awesome advice guys...I should have gone to the tech section in the first place.

Jocko is kind of like my idol.

You have to stop this. Or did he pay you?

It's simple to disassemble the slide.
Once you've done it, it's a two minute job.
IMO, using the straw / cleaner method to blow out the channel isn't nearly as effective as disassembling the slide and then using a pipe cleaner to be certain the channels are absolutely clean.
