First off let me say that I love my P380. It rides with me everywhere and has been very reliable. One thing that I can't stand though is the brass to the face all the time. After my last range session I figured I would finally take a look at the extractor and see if there was anything that I could fix. I field stripped the slide and placed a round in the chamber area so that the rim was held by the extractor. Here is what I found.

Am I correct in thinking that the extractor should be holding the round tight to the breach face? I initially thought that I should remove the extractor and file it so that it can lean in more and grab the rim. However I don't think there is any additional room for the extractor to lean in more. It really just needs the hook of the extractor closer to the breach face. What do you guys think?

Anyone notice this with their P380?

I've never experienced brass to the face from my P380, but your problem could be due the the ejector just as easily as the extractor. Have you given the ejector a look?

I do not notice anything out of the ordinary with the ejector. Anything specific I should be looking for?

I:

I would think that the barrel chamber will keep it lined up properly; it probably has to be kind of a loose fit to allow for differing cartridge rim thicknesses.

You should look for any damage to the tip of the ejector where it strikes the cartridge rim or an ejector that is bent. Limp wristing can also cause brass to the face. You might try firming up your grip, or allow another shooter fire the weapon to see if the problem persists. You might also want to call Kahr Service and make them aware of the problem. If it continues it may require a trip back to the mothership to resolve the issue.

I called kahr about the same problem plus the slide was not locking back on the last round. I pretty much had about 500 trouble free rounds before this. It has been at kahr since oct.2nd Kahr told me they are running about 4 weeks behind, hopefully I should hear something this week. Before I shipped it back I asked if it would be easier if they just sent me parts they said no they would like to look at the guns.

I'd be interested in hearing what Kahr had to say, though they don't often give a detailed explanation. They will advise you of any parts replaced and any work done.

I was hoping kahr could just send some parts and I could fix it myself. But the person I talked to at kahr said the the gun (frame) could be tweaked and they would like to look at it. They asked me to send it back with both magazines. I will keep you posted on what they tell me.
