I just painted the front site white dot a Bright Fluorescent Red! I love it, i was having a hard time acquiring the white dot, and the new one is infinitely better. I have included photos so you can see how it looks, let me know what you think. I have also included a photo of the materials I used. Have to tell you, it feels like a brand new gun with a great site picture. (Assume there is a discussion about this already, but I am lazy and at work:p)

Thanks guys. Really feels like a big improvement over that all white lollypop, makes it easier to lock onto the front site. I was thinking about night sites for the three dots, but didn't want to spend the money. I find that this feels just as good to me, and I am not usually out in low light anyway. I guess if I were in a low light situation I really wouldn't be squinting to align the sights, most likely point and shoot.

KahrArmed: where did you get the paint? Hobby Lobby perhaps? Theres a couple of those around my general area. I'd like to get some for my 380 and 45.

Yep, exactly where I got it. Just get model brushes and put like 3 coats on. If you use a solvent based cleaner it can come off, be aware of that.

Cheaper than new sights, low light not as good as night sights.

...everyone has a color that seems to work best for them. For me it's red also. Good job and thanks for sharing.

You can finish it off with some clear nail polish or a dot of superglue. It protects the paint and prevents flaking and fading.

I did the same thing but instead of brushes I dipped a toothpick in the paint and put the resulting paint drop in the sight depression. Worked fine and no recoating. I used fluorescent orange.

In dim light red is the first color to disappear. The fluorescent paint might give you a slight edge. If you want the most visible color go with fluorescent white or fluorescent chartreuse. Learned that from an old walleye fisherman. :)

Likewise, I used a fluorescent orange and a toothpick on my cw9 and cm9. Got it at WallyWorld. My local gunsmith asked me if I did the job myself and then complimented me on the perfect job. Later I had to re-do one of them because I got sloppy with the brakecleaner. I may try the chartreuse next. I used to have several colors for modifying bass fishing lures, but got rid of them (big mistake) when I switched over to striper fishing.

Old thread but still useful. I have a bottle of the same stuff. It has been put on a handful of my gun's front sights and really helps my older eyes. For any gun that doesn't start with a white dot front, I'll put on a couple of coats of "flat white". After that's dry, the fluorescent red is much brighter.
