First off sorry for this crappy first post, I know the long timers hate these questions popping up from the noobs.

I'm getting either one of these tomorrow and need a bit of a push. I can either buy a new cw9 for $370 or a used p9 for $470. I looked over the p9 last weekend and it seemed to be in good shape so I'm really torn. The p9 only comes with one mag which is a bummer with both options. The cw9 would be my first brand spanking new gun, I bought my Security six and hi power 2nd hand. I'm really on the fence here so any insight would be much appreciated.

I can't tell you about the P9 but I have a CW9 and it has been flawless and a joy to shoot. It's also light and easy to conceal in a IWB holster. I highly recommend it and the price you stated seems good.

Get the CW9 and take the extra money left over and buy some 9mm ammo to have some fun.

Welcome to the forum by the way. Let us know when you get it and how it goes.

I feel the CW9 fit my hand better, still very concealable, accurate, dependable.
I love mine!:)

The cw9 and p9 are the exact same grips. Nearly the same parts as we'll. if I was you, I would take the cw9 take the extra money and buy 3 extra mags. As small as the cw/p series is the upgrades barrel won't aid in shootability. I would if I was you upgrade the sights later on. The cw9 has a plastic pinned front sight like a g26.

If not having dovetailed front sights and upgraded barrel bothers you, pickup the p9. P9 also has better guid rod and slide stop.

Oh, yes. :o I was thinking of the CM9. You're right . The more expensive barrel isn't that important to me.

Welcome to the forum.

If I knew the gun's history I might go with the used piece, but if I didn't I'd go with the new cw9 for the warranty. Then would use the left over cash to buy another magazine and a holster.

My cw9 has had no issues and is a lot of fun at the range, too.

I'm partial to polygonal barrels, so I'd probably opt for the P9 in this case. That price is good for a P9. I also like having the options open for more sights. The CW9 is limited in that regard. If money is tight, then save a few bucks, but my philosophy is to get the best gun available that I can afford. If you can afford the P9, then I'd go for it.

The CW9 only comes with one mag too. The P9 on the other hand should have two. I'd ask why there's only one. might get a free mag or at least be a reason to ask for a lower price.

Thanks all, looks like most are in favor of going new. I usually have the same mindset as ripley and try to get the best I can afford at the time. I can afford the p9, but I wouldn't have much cash left for an extra mag or holster and I need at least 2 mags. The gun shop also has a 30 day money back guarantee on used stuff. I think I'm leaning towards new only because I'm no crackshot and I don't think I would personally see the benefit to the better barrel.

Either way I'm soooo excited to pick up a Kahr and I actually have enough ammo saved up to make it through the break in period and still have a few hundreds rounds left over.

Any recommendations on a comfy IWB holster?

While I would get the CW9 because its cheaper and I stay broke , if I had the money I would get the P9

IMO, it's one of the best sized piece for IWB carry.

I am a little bias now as to what holster I wear most often since I usually wear what I make. After several months of trying many different prototypes of a unique IWB hybrid holster design I have landed on this variant that has worked out best for me and others who have tried it.

The others who have tried it seem to like them as they would ask if I had put up a website yet so they could point their friends to it... so a couple of weeks ago, I did.

You are welcome to check out http://hiddenfx.com while you are considering your options.

Thanks Otium, I will have to check your site out at home since it blocked by my offices BS sonicwall. I have a bunch of kydex and leather at home since I make knives as a hobbiest so I want to see what you have come up with.

Anyways, I'm the proud new owner of a cw9. I can't wait to get home so I can play with it, the gun I mean.:D

I hope to get the break in period done this weekend and I will post my results.

Much thanks for everyone's input, I really did need a push. I look forward to absorbing these forums over the weekend and I hope to become a contributing member of this community.
