Not to steal someone else's thunder but I thought this was work posting on it's own. I know I don't generally read other's signature line but when I read this from one of the founding fathers of our country I thought it was worth repeating. Thanks for sharing Tinman.

If anyone else has a quote to post that speaks to the topic feel free. I thought this fits a forum like ours.

I thought about the same thing and I found several locations that had similar "quotes" by Jefferson. The British did try to disarm some of the colonialist (learned that this past week from my daughters AP history studies) so I can see that it may fit.

This is not something Jefferson wrote, but rather comes from a passage he included in his "Legal Commonplace Book." The passage is from Cesare Beccaria's Essay on Crimes and Punishments.
