I got this Laserlyte training cartridge about a month ago. I was a little skeptical about this product, some said it didn’t work in their gun but I took a chance. It was a little pricey but if it did what I wanted it would be worth it. Well let me say it was worth buying, I practice with it all the time. I didn’t get the target that was not what I want it for , I want it to practice point shooting and it delivered then I practiced drawing from concealed that is when I found out what I was doing wrong. The range I go to will not let you draw from your holster so I needed another way to do this. As far as some say it does not work in their gun have noticed that some of the striker fire guns the pin does not come out as far as a firing pin gun or my XDM compact. So my friend Buzzard45 has three kahr 45's and let him try it would work maybe two or three time and stop, so with that I started looking at it and it seems that the shoulder to the base was about .030 shorter than a regular case. So this cartridge has two o-rings on it and is a rimless design so if you have to rack the slide back to cock it won’t come out, you need to push it out with say eraser end of a pencil. So what was happening was the first couple of fires would work but it was working its way forward and after a few times it would stop working. Now with that I just unscrewed the base one turn that made the length correct put it back in all Buzzard45's Kahr 45's and it didn’t miss at all, you could fire this till you arm hurt. Overall I think this is a great practice tool for anyone. Like I said a little pricey but I broke open my change jar for this it gives a lot back

I have one and you are correct. It is a great way to practice drawing and point shooting.

I learned to point shoot on my Uncle's farm. I got fairly good at it, but it's something you have to work at to stay good. This training aid seems to fit the bill. The only thing lacking is the noise and recoil.

I have their version that fits in the muzzle and adapts to different calibers. It's a great training aid!

The beauty of the trainer cartridge is the fact it will not eject when you rack the slide. It requires a pencil down the barrel to remove it.

How big of a hole does the laser make in the target? :)

CTL works in a similar way...you simply hit the button on the grip when you want it on. Plus it stays there for SD.

Hey Muggsy you are right nothing replaces live fire and I love to blow the sh!t at what I aiming for, this tool gives me the daily practice I what. Just about everyday when I get home I throw that in and shoot at different targets in my shop. HEY if I did that with live fire I would have a lot of holes to fix. Where I used to live I could do that all the time, just walk up to the old barn and fire away, but that was then, and not now so got to figure a way to to keep sharp. This helps keep the muscle memory in check. All though the beard is all white and the eyes are old I think this old fart can still hit where it counts

I have used them in 9mm and 45. The secret I figured out is to leave the cartridge a bit out of fully chambered them slowly let the slide down and it will position it against the breach. I haven't had one misfire after figuring that out, but I do like your solution and will keep that in mind.
BTW, I found laser practice transfers to the range just dandy. You need both but my like is to shoot a few hundred laser rounds (over time) then if all's well only a few mags at the range. Just make very sure no ammo when laser practicing.

Haha. I guess it goes without saying that you wouldn't use a loaded weapon to train with a laser.

It should go without saying but it is very easy to practice, leave for an errand, come back and point and shoot - especially if you practice a lot and get casual about it.

Hey, Harry Lee, I have the laser trainer system and love it.
A number of months ago when discussing this laser, someone suggested I take some old
T-shirts and have someone place them "where ever" in the house and I would come in and have to take them out. It's great training!!!!!
Hey, welcome!

Hey AIRret I think this is a great tool it will not replace live fire but it gives you the ability to get all you hand eye coronation in focus and muscle memory going. The thing I like the most is I can practice drawing from counseled to me that throws everything out lifting a shirt and pulling your sidearm out and being good at it is a very hard thing to master. I have targets and all different things I point and shoot at and most of the time the sights never get to eye level. Instinctive shooting it is the most practical way of self-defense that I can think of and if it's hard to learn then that makes me what to do it more

Speaking from experience? Nothing casual about gun safety in my house. I train a lot and it gets unloaded. No coming back from an errand and point shoot nonsense. Whether you use a CTL or a laserlyte, you check to be sure your gun is empty. One is not safer than another for that silly reason....oops wrong button. Get serious.
I never cared much for abstract hypothetical scenarios, but the table could be turned by saying, "Oops I forgot to replace my laser light with a live round, flashed my light in self defense and got my self shot. " Obviously it goes without saying that you unload before you train with lasers and you reload when you are done training. Conscious decisions that are necessary for gun handling safety skills. If it does not go without saying...now it was said.

When I train with a Laser All live rounds are no where accessible!!
In fact when cleaning guns, training dry fire in it's various forms I keep only one loaded gun and that one is under the pillow (don't tell anyone) so that nothing gets mixed up!!!!!!!!!

Exactly AIRret! "OOps, wrong button" is a ridiculous mentality. It goes without saying to - Always practice with any laser or dry fire using a cleared weapon...double checked. When your done with your laser training / dry fire practice, be sure to remove that laser light, unless your using a CTL. Finally, remember to reload if it is your carry weapon. Just say'in. Haha.

Ok lets get this straight oops wrong button as I was proof reading my reply it I hit the send button before I was ready to submit it. So I went in it and remove the wrong reply and put that in that is what that was all about, not sure what you thought it was. It was a mistake sending a reply before it was done, that’s all
I see where things got messed up here garyb you where talking about the button a activate your CTL and for all the dumb luck in the world my next reply was oops hit the wrong button. For the world of me I was not saying anything about you I just screwed up my typing and was trying to fix it. I went back looking at the replies when I saw what happened here. Sorry my friend if you took it the wrong way. I’m not a very good at typing and so often have to check myself for errors. So we Ok now sorry for the mix up was not referring to you in anyway

No problem HarryLee. Thanks for clearing that up. It did not make any sense to me and led me to believe you had not used a CTL. I did not take it personal anyway and was not attacking you personally either. I believe the key point was to unload before laser dry fire practice....then there will be no OOPS. Unload before you send your threads....haha. Just kidding with ya. WE are cool. Thanks again.
And I do believe the laser light or CTL are great training devices. Just need to practice safe. I support dry fire practice with either tool, although I have not used the laser light because I have a CTL on my carry gun. Good post.

garyb makes a great point. My only complaint with LaserLyte is they are not a safety orange. The damn things are brass. Bad idea guys.

340pd funny you said that, I said to my buddy the other night I thought rather than the black button on the back of the case if they had made that orange it would be a good visual aid. And you can’t use paint it would just chip off don’t know if it would attack the plastic. But what I may try and maybe it’ll work is see if I have any type of orange tape around and cut a small dot out of it and put it on the button not sure it will stay but give it a try.Now for the brass case could color it with a orange sharpie pen
