I just saw on Kahr's site that they offer a black metal base plate kit for 9 and 40's at approx $20. Would look nicer on my all black PM40 than the silver one.

I got one set of those each for my PM9, P9, and P40. I used a black gun finish touchup pen to blacken the bit that was exposed to blend it in fully. I used an O-ring(3/32" thick by 3/4" inner diameter neoprene O-ring fits and doesn't cause binding or loosening of the lockup of the magazine) on the P40 which bit me and the P9 as a precaution. I prefer the metal, flush-fitting bases and black was "only" $5 more than the stainless set.

The 1/8" on the lower mag was too fat and caused problems with lockup, but the 3/32" was just right.

One of the "tricks" in buying Kahr parts for the magazines, is to buy the "kits" which gives you a savings over the individual pieces bought separately.

Ordered the black bases from Kahr for my 5 round mag. Kind of expensive with the shipping, but I figure it will be there forever. Hopefully it wears good.
a while back a friend of mine wanted his gun all black, i used black header paint on base plate, sprayed it and cooked in oven for 30min.....its hard and wont scratch...available in flat black and glossy black. cheaper than buying new base plates @ $20 each......

Wyn, Good idea on the black gun finish pen to touch up any shiny metal that shows after the install of the new black base plate from Kahr. I only had to do about 1/8" around the base. It only took Kahr about 3 days to get me the part...FAST! But it did cost me enough in the end. Worth it...looks good to me. IMO- This is how Kahr should sell the PM in all black. They should include the black base plates as a standard feature of PM's in ALL black - PM4044N. All Black is Back!
